Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Randy Donnalley! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Duncan Ferguson! The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Joseph Jones and Jonathan Paton.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Donnalley closes this distance looking for a takedown but Ferguson circles away. Donnalley gets a double leg takedown into Ferguson's guard. Ferguson can't keep his opponent in guard - Donnalley advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Donnalley not doing much here.
Ferguson is looking to control Donnalley's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Ferguson avoid being mounted? We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Donnalley content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
That's one minute gone in the round. Donnalley decides to stand up. Ferguson connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Donnalley fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Donnalley moves away from the strike by Ferguson. An attempted straight right counter from Donnalley misses the target. Donnalley throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Ferguson was covering up waiting for the punch and Donnalley finishes the takedown easily into guard. Ferguson keeping full guard, as Donnalley tries to pass.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Donnalley drops back looking for a leg! Ferguson is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Ferguson manages to kick Donnalley off! Donnalley jumps back into Ferguson's guard. Donnalley stands and throws Ferguson's legs to the side, diving into side control. Donnalley moves into full mount! Donnalley content just to control the position here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Donnalley with a couple of short strikes. Donnalley controlling his opponent. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ferguson is trying desperately to improve position. Donnalley controlling the position easily from mount. Donnalley looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Donnalley is standing up, even though he is in mount. Ferguson connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Donnalley changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Ferguson tries to avoid it but Donnalley manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Ferguson to the ground. Ferguson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Randy Donnalley. That's going to take a lot out of him. Donnalley clinches up with Ferguson and pushes him back against the cage. Ferguson is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Donnalley is keeping busy. Ferguson tries to break the clinch but Donnalley is controlling the position. Donnalley has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Ferguson is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Donnalley pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Duncan Ferguson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Donnalley shoots and misses and Ferguson counters with a lovely straight right hand! Ferguson lands a big right hand that sends Donnalley crashing to the mat! Ferguson stays standing though and waves Donnalley back to his feet!
Donnalley is rocked! This has been an exciting period of action! Crack! Ferguson connects with the perfect overhand right and Donnalley falls face first to the canvas. Timbeeeeeeeer! Beautiful knockout for Ferguson!
