Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Wayde West (ranked 2253 p4p, 345 weight class) and Tommy Lotus (ranked 5383 p4p, 665 weight class). West comes to the cage accompanied by Sober. Lotus comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Eye of the tiger kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
25 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Wayde West! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
34 - 50 - 2, fighting out of London, Tommy Lotus! The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Steven Brown and Chris Edwards.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lotus fails with a takedown attempt. West throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Lotus fails with a takedown attempt. West dips down and scores with a jab to the body. West moves into the clinch successfully.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. West has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Lotus avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. West breaks the clinch.
The fight stays on the outside here - Lotus looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Tommy Lotus seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. West closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Lotus quickly recovers to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lotus has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. West is working away from the top position though. West tries to stand but can't do so whilst Lotus controls his leg. Lotus wants to improve his position but West is controlling well.
West is thwarting Lotus's attempts to control the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Lotus wants to get back to full guard. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. West connects with a nice short shot to Lotus's temple. West stalling.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Lotus is trying to stand.
West takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Lotus is trying to stand back up but West is controlling him
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Lotus gets caught napping as West dives in and scores a takedown. Lotus manages to retain guard. West wanted to stand there but Lotus had control of the position. Lotus is looking to sweep but instead, West has passed into half guard.
Lotus felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Lotus wants to control but West is keeping busy.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with West in particular looking to stall. West winds up and cracks Lotus with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Lotus really doesn't want to stay on the ground with West. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. West seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. West maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Lotus could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but West has cracked it and Lotus is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by West!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Wayde West! Wayde West decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
