Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jack Zabijaka! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Andre Rodrigues Castro! The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Matheus Silva and Seu Braga.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rodrigues Castro looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Zabijaka is fending him off so far but Rodrigues Castro persists. Nope, Zabijaka circles away and we're back to standing. Zabijaka will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Zabijaka darts in and clinches Rodrigues Castro up against the cage. Still in the clinch, Zabijaka scores with a nice short uppercut. Zabijaka pushes Rodrigues Castro back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head. Zabijaka holding his opponent close, against the cage.
Zabijaka's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Zabijaka fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Rodrigues Castro, pushing him back against the cage. Rodrigues Castro tries to pull guard but Zabijaka holds him up against the cage and eventually Rodrigues Castro drops back down to his feet.
Rodrigues Castro tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Zabijaka just stands there and leans against the cage. Jack Zabijaka has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andre Rodrigues Castro. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rodrigues Castro fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Zabijaka scores with a shoulder strike. Still in the clinch, Zabijaka scores with a nice short uppercut. Zabijaka's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
That's one minute gone in the round. Zabijaka throws a nice inside leg kick. Jack Zabijaka seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Zabijaka connects with a right that clearly hurt Rodrigues Castro. He's backed up against the cage with nowhere to go as Zabijaka proceeds to tee off with vicious combinations till Rodrigues Castro collapses and taps out under the pressure!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:09 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jack Zabijaka! Jack Zabijaka seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
