Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Max Owen! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, steve rifformato! The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Andrew Berry and William Gold.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Owen tries to clinch up but rifformato circles away and keeps his distance. rifformato closes the distance and clinches up with Owen, looking for a takedown. rifformato pushes Owen against the cage but Owen circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. rifformato tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Owen counters with a body kick. Owen takes the fight into the clinch. Owen lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
It looks like steve rifformato has been cut. Owen creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through rifformato's defenses. rifformato tries to pull guard but Owen holds him up against the cage and eventually rifformato drops back down to his feet.
Owen stops a takedown attempt from rifformato.
Max Owen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of steve rifformato. Owen lands a nice elbow. rifformato tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Owen smiles and moves away.
Owen doesn't succeed with the takedown and rifformato counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by rifformato.
That's one minute gone in the round. rifformato fails to pull the fight into his guard.
rifformato is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
rifformato looking to slow down the pace here. Owen lands a knee to the body.
rifformato misses with a knee strike.
rifformato tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Owen smiles and moves away.
steve rifformato seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Owen feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. rifformato has his foot on Owen's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Owen works his way back into a safe position though. rifformato looks gassed!
That's two minutes gone in the round. rifformato is striking from the bottom but Owen uses the opportunity to pass into half guard. rifformato looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Owen gets to his feet - back to striking we go! Owen gets a clinch. Owen connects with a nasty looking knee right to rifformato's face.
Owen comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
That has opened up steve rifformato's cut even more. Owen lands an elbow inside.
That's three minutes gone in the round. rifformato tries to break the clinch but Owen is controlling the position. rifformato changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Owen fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Owen throws a quick head kick that skims the top of rifformato's head. Owen scores with a takedown into rifformato's guard. Owen wants to get up but he can't break rifformato's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Owen knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for rifformato on the ground.
That's four minutes gone in the round. rifformato throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Owen escapes and throws rifformato's legs to the side, diving into side control! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. rifformato is looking for a sweep. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Owen decides to take the fight back to the feet. The fight moves into the clinch position. Nice elbow from Owen. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Max Owen dominated that round. The cut man is working on steve rifformato's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Owen closes the distance and clinches. Knees to the body from Owen.

steve rifformato's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at steve rifformato's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:50 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Max Owen! Max Owen retains his light heavyweight title!
