0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tom Taylor! The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Alyssa Summers and Jonathan Paton.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hale connects with the punch. Hale shoots in for a takedown but Taylor shows good takedown defense. Taylor now looks to counter with a shot at the body. Taylor shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Taylor showed some decent athleticism there. Hale is trying to control but can't.
Taylor is taking a breather. Hale says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Taylor decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet. Taylor wants to clinch up but Hale keeps it at a distance. Hale plants his feet and lands a nice head kick! We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hale misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Taylor looking to score a takedown here. Hale is defending well but Taylor drives through and ends up in Hale's guard. Hale uses the cage to get back to his feet.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Taylor leaves Hale with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hale tries to clinch up. Taylor closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Hale quickly recovers to half guard. Taylor frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Taylor controlling his opponent. Taylor prevents Hale from getting the reversal. Hale is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Taylor sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Hale really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Hale is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Taylor controlling his opponent. Hale tries to hold on but Taylor postures up. Taylor looking to secure an arm triangle but Hale defends it well. Hale is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Taylor landing strikes from the mount. Taylor working the ground and pound effectively.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Hale takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Hale is rocked! Hale takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Taylor's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.
