PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Forged Steel (ranked 5212 p4p, 585 weight class) and RJ MacReady (ranked 1987 p4p, 263 weight class). MacReady has chosen Superstition as his entrance music. The key to victory for Forged Steel has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, RJ MacReady!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Andrew Berry and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Steel tries to bum rush MacReady with a series of wild strikes but MacReady uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
MacReady looks to score with a jab to the body but Steel is just out of range.
Steel throws a series of punches but MacReady avoids them all with ease.
MacReady blocks the body kick.
MacReady throws a counter combo.
Steel uses good head movement to avoid the hook from MacReady.
Steel misses with an attempted mid kick.
Steel really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Steel 's hands are dropping dangerously low here and MacReady connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Steel scrambles back to his feet.

Steel looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
MacReady gets through Steel 's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Steel wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but MacReady has him pressed against the cage.
MacReady told us before the fight that he's been working on his elbows. An under utilised technique these days - let's see if it can sway the outcome of the fight.
MacReady digs a right hand into Steel 's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Steel 's gas tank.

MacReady lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

MacReady works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Steel is breathing heavily.

MacReady gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Steel regains guard.
MacReady slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
MacReady is chipping away with strikes.
MacReady controls the position.
MacReady landing strikes.
MacReady lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Steel down.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
MacReady lands a nice forearm strike.
MacReady remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
It looks like MacReady might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

MacReady scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Steel is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and MacReady can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). RJ MacReady!
As RJ MacReady got his breath back, he grabbed the microphone and managed to blurt out the following: Who wants some!! I'm ready to take on this damn division. Flamethrower in hand if I have to.'.
