Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Ryan Lock! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Sylar Evans! The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Chris Edwards and Phil Schofield.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Evans shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Lock as he avoids it easily. Lock connects with a body shot. Lock blocks a head kick by Evans.
Evans displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Lock. Evans throws out a counter right but Lock avoids it with no problem. Evans blocks the body kick.
Evans throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Lock is trying hard to land a takedown here. Evans sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Evans throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Lock. Lock appears to be looking for a counter takedown. No luck with that takedown attempt from Evans. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Horrible takedown attempt by Lock or perhaps it was just good defense by Evans, which made it look bad. Evans feints a counter leg kick. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ryan Lock. That's going to take a lot out of him. Evans blocks a head kick by Lock.
Evans steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Lock.
That's one minute gone in the round. No luck for Lock with that takedown attempt. Lock is breathing heavily. Evans instigates a clinch. Evans has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Lock is trying to keep an underhook but Evans manages to get the takedown into half guard. Evans is figuring out what he wants to do next. Evans has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Lock is desperately trying to improve his position but Evans has a good base and remains in mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Evans lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Lock hang on? Lock tries to hold on but Evans pushes him away. Evans tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Evans unloading with bombs! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Lock defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Evans. Evans takes Lock's back.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lock is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Evans.
Lock fending off the submission attempt from Evans. Evans is looking for the choke from the back position but Lock is controlling his hands well. Lock can't escape the position.
Evans really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Lock.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Evans's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Evans is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Lock has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Evans has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Lock taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Evans doesn't care though - he's delighted!
