Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mad Dog Iii!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Hector Davis!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Paulsen Ambrosius and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davis avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Davis fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Davis moves out of range of the strikes.
Davis is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Davis has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Dog Iii is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Davis lands a head shot.
Davis will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
The fighters circling - Dog Iii throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Dog Iii misses with a hook. Davis ducked under it nicely.
Dog Iii is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.


It looks like Hector Davis has been cut.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Davis is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Dog Iii wants to improve his position but Davis is controlling well.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Dog Iii is looking to control Davis's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Dog Iii avoid being mounted?

Let's hope that Davis has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Davis throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Davis in particular looking to stall.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Dog Iii looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Dog Iii throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Davis moves out of range of the body kick from Dog Iii.
Davis keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Dog Iii.
Davis tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
A nice leg kick lands there from Dog Iii.
Davis takes one on the chin but seems OK.

Davis has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Dog Iii avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Dog Iii.
Dog Iii thows a left - swing and a miss!
Davis shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Dog Iii is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Davis.

Davis takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

Dog Iii has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Davis has passed into side control.

Davis is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Dog Iii knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Davis is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Dog Iii will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Davis misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Davis lands a couple of good shots and Dog Iii has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
Mad Dog Iii has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Hector Davis is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Davis controlling the position well here. Dog Iii rolled but Davis kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
Dog Iii's corner are yelling at him, telling him to just focus on controlling Davis's hands.
Dog Iii is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Davis.

Davis looking to break Dog Iii's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Dog Iii remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Davis will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
You can see the frustration on Dog Iii's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Davis has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Davis has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Dog Iii's body.
Dog Iii has his hands over his head blocking the strikes from Davis.

Davis keeps control of the position easily here as Dog Iii tries to buck him off.
Davis is continuing to stall.
Dog Iii looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.

Davis is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Dog Iii with him. Dog Iii is trying to defend but Davis has an arm under the chin now! Dog Iii grimaces and is forced to tap out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Hector Davis!
