Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Harlon Hughes! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Johny Chambers! The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Paul Aken and Nard Betker.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Chambers keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Hughes. Hughes thuds his right hand into Chambers's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Harlon Hughes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Hughes ducks under a wild hook from Chambers. Hughes connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Chambers takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Hughes rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Chambers moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Hughes pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Chambers tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Hughes manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Chambers moves out of range as Hughes strikes. Chambers blocks a jab. Chambers swings away with a body shot that misses
enabling Hughes to counter with a crisp jab. Hughes ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Hughes throws the left hand but Chambers avoids the punch easily. Hughes lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Chambers circles away quickly and effectively. Chambers on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Hughes connects with a looping right hand.
Hughes misses with a hook
and Chambers counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Chambers misses with a body shot.
Hughes is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
That's one minute gone in the round. Chambers swings for the body but Hughes moves out of range.
Hughes wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch. Chambers takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Hughes lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Hughes lands with a nice combination. Chambers backs away looking to recover. Chambers misses the jab. Chambers drops Hughes with a nice combination! Chambers dives into Hughes's guard, looking to finish!
Hughes is rocked!
It looks like Harlon Hughes has been cut. This has been an exciting period of action! Chambers postures up and lands a big shot to Hughes's brow. Oh Hughes is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Chambers arches his back and unloads with a massive left and a right! Hughes's eyes roll back into his head, he's out cold! The ref dives in to stop the fight - wow, they were hard shots!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:41 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Johny Chambers! Johny Chambers bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
