PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Francesco Glenn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Reed Sully (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Reed Sully was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Francesco Glenn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Reed Sully!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, James Atkins and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sully closes the distance and pushes Glenn back into the cage.

Sully breaks the clinch.

Sully throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Glenn was covering up waiting for the punch and Sully finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Glenn wants to get back to his feet but Sully passes into half guard.

Sully trying to control the pace.
Glenn tries to roll over but Sully keeps him under control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Glenn is trying to maintain the position but Sully is very close to passing his half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Glenn is defending against the submission attempts here by Sully.
Still in half guard, Sully seems content to control.
Sully seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Glenn does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Glenn is trying to control but can't.
Glenn is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Sully thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Glenn's head.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Sully wants to free his trapped foot but Glenn is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Well, if Sully is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Sully missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Glenn knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sully on the ground.

Sully is trying to work for a kimura but Glenn is defending well.
Sully looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Glenn is staying active underneath Sully, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Sully gets caught flat footed, as Glenn shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Sully is wriggling around but Glenn manages to pass to half guard.

Glenn thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Sully's head.
Sully is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Sully trying to control but Glenn postures up.
Sully tries to get to full guard but Glenn has control of the leg.
Sully wants to control but Glenn is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Sully punching from the bottom.
Sully tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Glenn has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Sully working to try and regain half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Glenn avoids the attempt from Sully to control.
Glenn prevents Sully from getting the reversal.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Reed Sully will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


A lazy body kick from Sully

and Glenn counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Glenn lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Sully is trying to maintain the position but Glenn is very close to passing his half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Glenn missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Sully manages to get to full guard.
Sully pulls Glenn in close to prevent any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sully has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Glenn is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Sully.
Francesco Glenn overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Sully is trying to get back to half guard.

Glenn throwing strikes but Sully manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!

Sully is trying to get an arm triangle but Glenn is defending well.
Sully happy to just control the position for now.
Glenn is not content to let Sully control the position.
Sully wants to stand but Glenn has his arm trapped.

Glenn manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Sully is trying to maintain the position but Glenn is very close to passing his half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Glenn slips a nice elbow through Sully's hands, connecting with Sully's forehead.

Glenn wants to lay and pray for a moment but Sully keeps working.

Sully misses with a body kick.

Sully is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Glenn looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Sully is trying to maintain the position but Glenn is very close to passing his half guard.

Sully is trying to stand back up but Glenn is controlling him
Sully wants to control the action here but instead Glenn manages to pass to full mount!
Sully is wriggling around trying to escape.
Sully takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Glenn trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Sully wants to control but Glenn is having none of it.
Sully is looking to improve his position but Glenn isn't that keen on the idea.

Glenn working the ground and pound effectively.
Sully is working to get back to half guard.
Sully tries to lock up and control but Glenn gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Sully is looking to get to half guard.
Glenn controlling the pace for now.

Sully can't escape the position.
Sully wants to hold on but Glenn pushes him away.
Glenn lands with some strikes.
Glenn lands a heavy elbow.
Sully slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Glenn drops an elbow to the side of Sully's head.
Sully tries to roll over but Glenn keeps him under control.

And that's the end of the fight!
Francesco Glenn showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Glenn has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
