Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Blink Monk (ranked 5316 p4p, 657 weight class) and Brent Reid (ranked 5397 p4p, 660 weight class). Monk comes to the cage accompanied by The Ghost of Tom Joad. Brent Reid acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brent Reid!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reid throws a combination that misses
and Monk counters with a nice body shot.
Reid misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Monk.
Monk lands a right hook to the body.

and Reid counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Reid thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Reid drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Reid jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Monk keeps control of the position for the meantime.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Monk is in trouble now - Reid has advanced to mount!

Monk has left one of his arms exposed and Reid doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Monk screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.
