Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Reed Hightower (ranked 1341 p4p, 207 weight class) and Trey Brown (ranked 1632 p4p, 257 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hightower throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Hightower ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Brown misses with a straight left.
As Brown looks to move away, Hightower throws a big counter combo but Brown just gets out of the way.
Brown cracks Hightower with an open hand slap.
Brown looks to land a right hand but Hightower moved out of range.
Hightower moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Hightower throws a shot from downtown. Brown moves away and avoids it.
Brown checks a low kick from Hightower.

Brown drops Hightower with a left right combo! Brown follows him down to the ground into side control.

Hightower is rocked!

It looks like Reed Hightower has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Brown decides to stand up, so the ref orders Hightower to his feet.
Oh Hightower is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
A nice inside leg kick there by Brown. That's going to slow Hightower down.
Brown pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Hightower seems to have got his legs back now.

Brown has taken the fight to the clinch.

Brown swings wildly with an uppercut but Hightower uses good head movement to avoid it.
Brown keeps control of Hightower as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Brown escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Hightower tries a head kick but it misses.
Trey Brown seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Brown takes a swing at Hightower's ribcage but misses.
Brown throws a head kick but Hightower moves out of range.
Brown lands a nice looking body shot.
Hightower connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Hightower throws a body shot but no joy.
The fighters circle momentarily. Brown darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Hightower has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Thunder MMA in the buildup to the fight.
Hightower throws a jab when Brown was well out of range.
Brown avoids the body shot from Hightower.
Brown is trying to counter with his kicks.
Brown throws a big shot that misses.

A telegraphed right hand from Hightower misses the target.
A big left from Brown misses.
A combination from Brown does no damage.
A jab from Hightower finds it's way through Brown's defenses.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Brown throws a hook but Hightower avoids it easily.
Hightower lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Brown throws a right hand that Hightower ducks under and follows up with a left that Hightower also avoids with ease.

Hightower slips a jab from Brown.
Brown on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Brown scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Hightower throws a jab but it's blocked by Brown.
Hightower misses with the combination.

Brown takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Brown lands with a cross.
Brown throws a hook but Hightower avoids it easily.

Brown drops his shoulder and cracks Hightower with a huge uppercut! Hightower goes down! Can Brown finish him?

Brown stands up from Hightower's guard - Brown perhaps looking for a knockout.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Brown tries to clinch but Hightower moves out of range.
Hightower connects with a single shot there.
Brown looks to land a right hand but Hightower moved out of range.
A little feinted left hand from Hightower on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Brown connects with a good right hand that stumbles Hightower. Hightower circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

Brown throws out a loose jab but Hightower uses good head movement to avoid it.

Brown steps into range and cracks Hightower with a monster punch that buckles his knees! Hightower flops backwards and Brown dives into his guard looking to finish!

Hightower is controlling Brown's posture.
Brown slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Hightower is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Brown is trying to stand up here but Hightower is controlling him well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Brown catches Hightower napping and connects with a big right hand that sends Hightower to the canvas!
Hightower looking for a sweep. Not yet Hightower, not yet.
Hightower pulls Brown in close to prevent any damage.
Hightower is trying to control the position but Brown postures up.

Hightower is looking for a triangle but Brown pushes his legs off easily.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hightower can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Brown controls the pace.
Brown has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Hightower is looking to cinch up a triangle. Brown throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Hightower's body to avoid the submission. Hightower has instead reached around Brown's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Hightower arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Reed Hightower!
Reed Hightower tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
