Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Joe Gonzales! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Roe Jogan! The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Roger Salmon and Jeff Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jogan misses the jab. Jab by Jogan.
It looks like Joe Gonzales has been cut. Jogan misses with a low kick.
Gonzales moves in looking to clinch but Jogan pushes him off. Gonzales steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Jogan. Gonzales feinted with a counter takedown. Jogan misses with an uppercut. Gonzales saw that one coming. Jogan throws a body shot but no joy. Jogan tries to land a leg kick but Gonzales saw it coming and moves away.
Gonzales doesn't manage to clinch there - Jogan circles away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jogan fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Gonzales checks it well. Gonzales tries to clinch up and Jogan counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jogan lands with a shot to the body. Jogan throws the kick towards the body but Gonzales avoids it. Gonzales moves to clinch but Jogan breaks away and Jogan counters with a two punch combo. Jogan's jab looks to have found its range, popping Gonzales under the eye. No joy there for Jogan, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Gonzales swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Gonzales uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Jogan. Jogan fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Gonzales is out of range. Gonzales appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Jogan throws a series of strikes that have Gonzales backpedaling.
Gonzales fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Jogan avoids it really well and circles away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Jogan looks for the body kick but Gonzales saw that one coming. Gonzales appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Jogan avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Jogan throws a low kick but it's checked well by Gonzales. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Gonzales. Gonzales fails in his attempt to clinch. Gonzales misses with a takedown attempt - Jogan sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Jogan tries to counter with a clinch but Gonzales shakes him off and moves away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joe Gonzales. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A low kick from Jogan misses and Gonzales decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Jogan's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gonzales controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Gonzales pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Jogan is keeping the position for now. Jogan keeping moving, preventing Gonzales from controlling successfully. Gonzales could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Gonzales has gone for a leg lock! Jogan slips out almost immediately though and dives into Gonzales's guard.
Gonzales is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Jogan rolls with it to try and escape but Gonzales cranks on the arm and Jogan is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
