Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dusty Lesley! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Janis Ozolins! The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Columbo Gatti and Reed Andrews.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Danga de danga de dang - Ozolins scores with a four punch combination!
It looks like Dusty Lesley has been cut. Ozolins has taken the fight to the clinch.
Lesley definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Lesley gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Ozolins.

Ozolins closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Ozolins wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Lesley, who protects the arm well. Ozolins decides to stand back up. Ozolins steps back and let's Lesley get back to his feet. Lesley swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! A left and a right from Ozolins both land. Nice combination. Lesley scores with a nice head shot. Ozolins drives through and clinches with Lesley against the cage.
Ozolins wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Ozolins fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Lesley is looking for a counter combo. Ozolins swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Ozolins takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Ozolins moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. A punch combination from Ozolins misses. Lesley throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Ozolins on the side of the head. Lesley forces Ozolins back against the cage and clinches. Ozolins is trying to push Lesley away but Lesley has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Lesley working some nice short punches in the clinch. Ozolins's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Lesley lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Lesley. Dusty Lesley is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Ozolins rushes Lesley and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. This has been an exciting period of action! Lesley lands a left hand.

Lesley has Ozolins pressed against the cage, preventing Ozolins from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Lesley lands a shot to the body. Lesley blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Ozolins is trying to break free. Lesley wants to break the clinch but can't.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Lesley takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life. Lesley makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. Lesley keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Ozolins's efforts to push away. Ozolins escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lesley tries to sprawl but Ozolins drives through with a takedown into half guard. Ozolins looks winded! Lesley controlling the leg, holding on to half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Lesley tries to get to full guard but Ozolins has control of the leg. Ozolins stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Lesley to get to his feet. Lesley swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Ozolins tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Ozolins drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Ozolins cracks Lesley with an elbow. That is naaassty. Lesley knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ozolins on the ground.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sloppy strikes there by Ozolins. Lesley gets back to half guard. Ozolins is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Ozolins postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Lesley to stand up. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Lesley tries to clinch up but Ozolins circles away and keeps his distance. Ozolins connects with a body shot that sends Lesley's belly button to the back. Ozolins takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

and Lesley counters with a lovely straight right hand! Ozolins throws a shot to the body.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. Lesley dodges the punch combination from Ozolins.

Ozolins with a poor takedown and Lesley counters by moving into the clinch. Ozolins jumps guard but Lesley turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Nice body punch from Lesley. Lesley slows down the pace here.
Ozolins's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! Lesley works on Ozolins's body with a couple of short punches. Lesley lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Ozolins backwards. Lesley is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches. Lesley misses with a punch to the body.
Ozolins escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Ozolins forces Lesley back against the cage and clinches. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lesley stalling against the cage.

I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. Ozolins wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Lesley has him pressed against the cage.

Dusty Lesley has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Janis Ozolins. Ozolins gets in close and instigates a clinch. Lesley wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Ozolins gets slowly back to his feet. Lesley cracks Ozolins with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Ozolins lands a leg kick that knocks Lesley off balance momentarily. Jab, jab by Lesley - just one landing. Ozolins fails with the takedown. A little feinted left hand from Lesley on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Lesley tries to clinch there but Ozolins circles away.
Dusty Lesley is winning the standup battle so far. A combination from Ozolins does no damage. Lesley is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
