Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dan Tasker! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Adonis Lourenco! The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Josh West and Colin Fray.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tasker shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Lourenco is trying to defend but Tasker finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Tasker is working for a kimura but Lourenco is defending it quite comfortably.
Tasker seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Lourenco does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Still in half guard, Tasker seems content to control. Lourenco really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Tasker. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Tasker is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Tasker throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Lourenco wants to control but Tasker is keeping busy.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lourenco might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Tasker haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Lourenco tries to kick Tasker off but Tasker keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Tasker is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Lourenco! We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Lourenco can do anything to dispel that myth. Tasker controlling from mount. Lourenco is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Tasker looking to secure an arm triangle but Lourenco defends it well. Lourenco defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Tasker. Tasker is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Lourenco is surviving well by controlling Tasker's body position as best he can.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Tasker wants to control but instead Lourenco manages to regain half guard. Tasker is keen to just control but Lourenco is a slippery customer. Tasker is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Tasker is trying to work for a kimura but Lourenco is defending well.
Tasker is pressing down on Lourenco's thigh, looking to free his foot. Lourenco is holding on for now. Lourenco looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Tasker is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lourenco is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment. Tasker uses his free foot to push down on Lourenco's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Lourenco. Lourenco is working to get back to half guard.
Tasker swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!
