Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bret Gallegos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Simon Waters (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Bret Gallegos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Simon Waters!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Paulsen Ambrosius and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Waters gets the takedown into side control.
Waters wants to control but Gallegos is keeping him busy.
Waters looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Gallegos is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Gallegos controls the position for a moment.

Waters decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Waters avoids a punch combination nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Waters showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Gallegos.

Waters is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Gallegos's half guard.

Gallegos kicks Waters off and gets back to his feet.

Gallegos moves into the clinch.
Gallegos wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Gallegos gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Waters regains guard.
Gallegos is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Gallegos postures up and lands a big shot to Waters's brow.

Gallegos stopping the sweep attempt from Waters.

Waters escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Gallegos gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Gallegos not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Gallegos seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Waters for as long as he can get away with.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Waters fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Gallegos to the ground. Waters is now in Gallegos's guard.
Gallegos wants to stand and escape but Waters is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Waters is fighting to break Gallegos's control of his arms but Gallegos is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Gallegos keeping moving, preventing Waters from controlling successfully.
Waters pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Gallegos is keeping the position for now.

Gallegos is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Waters presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Gallegos has hold of one of Waters's legs. Waters is fighting the takedown attempt but Gallegos gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Waters wants to control but Gallegos is keeping busy.
Gallegos looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Gallegos continues to stall.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Gallegos gets caught napping as Waters dives in and scores a takedown. Gallegos manages to retain guard.
Waters is standing up over Gallegos. Gallegos looks to escape but Waters dives into side control.
Gallegos is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Waters can do to turn this around?

Waters throwing shots but missing, from side control.
Gallegos wants to control but Waters postures up.
Waters cracks Gallegos with a big elbow.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gallegos is trying to buck Waters off.
Waters lands some shots froms side control.
Gallegos is trying to control Waters's posture but Waters avoids it.

Waters goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Gallegos has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Waters but great work by Gallegos.
Bret Gallegos overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Gallegos is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Waters knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Waters seems a little lost for a moment, as Gallegos dominates the positioning.
Waters sneaks back into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Waters wants to sweep but Gallegos has passed to side control!
Gallegos in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Waters is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Gallegos off and has taken his back!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Gallegos trying to control the hands but Waters breaks the grip.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gallegos turns into Waters and is now in his guard.
Waters trying to keep a closed guard but Gallegos is proving a slippery customer.
Waters tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Gallegos looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Gallegos won't allow Waters to sweep him here.

Gallegos sitting in guard here, content to control.
Waters pulls Gallegos in close to prevent any damage.
Waters looking to control.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Waters is working an open guard so Gallegos takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Simon Waters will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Waters fails with an attempt to clinch.

Gallegos has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

This is a sustained period of stalling by Gallegos.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Waters gets a takedown into half guard.

Gallegos kicks Waters off and gets back to his feet.

Waters throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Gallegos throwing a counter right hand but Waters manages to avoid it.
Waters takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Gallegos throws a series of punches but Waters moves out of range.
Gallegos shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Waters eats them both and turns towards Gallegos to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Waters throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Gallegos counters by moving into the clinch.
Gallegos really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Gallegos jumps guard and drags Waters to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Gallegos escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Waters gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Waters trying to control the position from guard on top but Gallegos is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Gallegos is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Gallegos wants to stand up but Waters is controlling him.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Gallegos holds on and takes a little breather.

Gallegos has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Waters can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Waters wants to pass the guard but Gallegos is keeping the position.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Gallegos working a defensive guard here.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Waters tries to close the distance and clinch but Gallegos swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Waters tries to keep at a distance but Gallegos has taken the fight into the clinch.

Waters wants the takedown. Gallegos is fighting it off but Waters persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Gallegos's guard against the cage.

Gallegos has his feet on Waters's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Waters shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Gallegos manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Waters keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

And that's the end of the fight!
Bret Gallegos showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Gallegos has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
