Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Don Petersen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Gee Gee Allen! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, David Hoff and Bart Greer.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Allen lands a right hook to the body.
Allen bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Allen closes the distance and pushes Petersen back into the cage. Nice body punch from Allen. A shot in the inside from Allen. Petersen blocks a body shot from Allen. Allen manages to break the clinch.
Allen has closed the distance and engaged Petersen in a clinch.
Allen softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage. Allen working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely. Petersen definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Allen doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Allen misses with a punch on the inside.
Allen lands a body shot.
That's one minute gone in the round. Allen throws a head punch that misses. Allen works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Allen lands with a light punch inside. A short left from Allen. Allen lands a body punch in the clinch. A short right from Allen. Allen softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage. Allen lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. Allen tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Petersen's elbow. Allen lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Petersen. Petersen is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Allen to keep the fight standing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. An uppercut to the body lands inside from Allen. Petersen looking for a takedown. Good body shot from Allen.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Allen's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Allen getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Allen with a body punch. A glancing blow. Allen lands a body shot.
Petersen takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Gee Gee Allen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Petersen is breathing heavily. The fighters circling - Petersen throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Allen ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Allen lands a slapping body shot.
Allen connects with a jab. Allen lands a nice shot to the body.
Gee Gee Allen is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Allen works Petersen's body with a nice hook. Allen lands with a good body shot. Allen scores with a jab to the jaw. Petersen takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Petersen walks into a straight right hand from Allen.
Petersen is rocked! Allen is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Petersen rather than just go for the knockout. Allen scores with a jab to the body. Oh Petersen is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Allen cracks Petersen with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Allen has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Petersen to stand back up! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Allen jabs Petersen to the body, keeping him at a distance. Allen lands a nice hook to Petersen's body. Petersen takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Allen uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Allen connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Petersen takes a shot right to the bread basket. Allen closes the distance and lands a vicious right hand that drops Petersen! Allen dives in looking to finish! Petersen is still trying to defend himself but he's taking too many shots and the referee has no choice but to stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Gee Gee Allen!
