Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Emanuel Fleming (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Genji Watanabe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Emanuel Fleming! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Genji Watanabe! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Yukihiro Shimada.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight. Fleming tries for a takedown but Watanabe sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. And Watanabe tries to counter it with a takedown but Fleming pushes his down on his head and steps out. Emanuel Fleming seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Fleming clinches up with Watanabe and pushes him back against the cage. Watanabe gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. Watanabe wants to control from the top but Fleming keeps moving. Watanabe got a little sloppy there for a moment and Fleming has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Watanabe has managed to get both his arms back between Fleming's legs - danger averted. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Watanabe slips nicely into half guard. Watanabe tries to pass the half guard into mount. Fleming knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Watanabe seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Fleming does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fleming really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Watanabe is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Fleming missing with punches from the bottom.
Watanabe seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Fleming preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head. Fleming is trying to get back to full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Watanabe wants to free his trapped foot but Fleming is holding on for dear life with his legs. Fleming is refusing to be controlled, as Watanabe sits in half guard.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Fleming pushes Watanabe up against the cage in a clinch. Fleming has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Watanabe avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Fleming pulls guard successfully.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Watanabe passes easily into side control. Nice work. Watanabe moves into full mount! We've been informed that Watanabe has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. Watanabe looking to control but Fleming is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Fleming throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing. Watanabe can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Fleming is looking to escape. Watanabe seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Fleming is holding on tight.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Fleming stops Watanabe from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better. Watanabe wants to control the pace but Fleming is squirming around nicely. Watanabe might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Fleming haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Fleming is trying desperately to improve position. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Watanabe trying to control but Fleming is having none of it. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Watanabe prevents Fleming from getting the reversal. Watanabe looking to control but Fleming is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Genji Watanabe dominated that round. That's time! Fleming's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Fleming fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Watanabe manages to avoid it. Watanabe looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Watanabe has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Fleming drives through and clinches with Watanabe against the cage.
Watanabe works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. Fleming keeping moving, preventing Watanabe from controlling successfully. Watanabe is fighting to break Fleming's control of his arms but Fleming is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Watanabe is pushing down on Fleming's leg trying to pass to half guard. Fleming is fighting to maintain full guard but Watanabe has managed to sneak the leg through. Watanabe is just content to waste time from the top position. Fleming takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Fleming holds on and takes a little breather.
That's one minute gone in the round. Watanabe is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Watanabe trying to control but Fleming is working from the bottom. Fleming is pulling down on Watanabe's head. It's preventing any offense from Watanabe, at least for the moment. Watanabe tries to free his leg and advance position but Fleming is retaining full guard. Watanabe forces his way into half guard. Watanabe is trying to control. Fleming wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Fleming keeps control of the position for the meantime.

Watanabe wants to take a breather but Fleming is having none of it. Fleming controlling the leg, holding on to half guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Watanabe with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Watanabe is trying to control the action in half guard but Fleming is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Fleming is controlling Watanabe's trapped leg to prevent Watanabe from advancing to side control. Fleming is refusing to be controlled, as Watanabe sits in half guard.

A close second round but Genji Watanabe will probably get the nod - 10:9. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Fleming kicks Watanabe off and gets back to his feet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Fleming shoots in looking for a takedown but Watanabe manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Fleming's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world. No joy there for Fleming, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Watanabe pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Fleming tumbling to the mat - Watanabe dives into Fleming's guard. Watanabe trying to control but Fleming is working from the bottom. Fleming wants to get back to his feet but Watanabe is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Watanabe avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
