0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jake Dillashaw! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Abdollah Assad! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Gwen Towbar and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dillashaw moves into the clinch successfully.
Assad misses with a body punch.
Assad drops down looking for an ankle pick but Dillashaw pulls his leg out and moves away.
Assad throws a body shot but no joy. Assad throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Dillashaw tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Assad was well out of range. Poor timing from Dillashaw. Dillashaw clinches up with Assad and pushes him back against the ropes. Assad is looking for a takedown. Dillashaw tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Assad tries to break free but Dillashaw pushes him back against the ropes. Assad is trying to break the clinch but Dillashaw has him pressed against the ropes. A short right from Dillashaw. Assad trying to stall but Dillashaw improves his position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Assad is working for a takedown up against the ropes. He can't get it on this occasion though. Jake Dillashaw has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Abdollah Assad. Dillashaw lands a left hand.

Dillashaw pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Dillashaw waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Assad. Assad has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight. Assad ducks under a wild hook from Dillashaw. Good shot there by Dillashaw. Dillashaw bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Assad's head backwards.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Assad dives in for a single leg takedown but Dillashaw sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the ropes. Dillashaw forces Assad back against the ropes and clinches. Dillashaw makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. Assad can't get the takedown.
Dillashaw tries to work over Assad's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Dillashaw tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Dillashaw breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Jake Dillashaw seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Dillashaw misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Assad tries to keep at a distance but Dillashaw has taken the fight into the clinch. Assad swings wildly with an uppercut but Dillashaw uses good head movement to avoid it. Dillashaw pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the ropes. Dillashaw stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body. Dillashaw breaks the clinch.
Dillashaw forces Assad back against the ropes and clinches. Dillashaw breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
