The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Geno throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Bowers was covering up waiting for the punch and Geno finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Bowers is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Geno wants to get back to striking at distance but Bowers won't allow it.
Geno wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Bowers breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Geno lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

Bowers has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Geno is on him like a limpet, forcing Bowers back against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Geno has had enough of the clinch but Bowers keeps him there for the moment.

Geno manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Bowers on his heels. He'll look to pass Bowers's guard now, I'm sure.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
