The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stewart shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Naoki but Naoki pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Naoki bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
We've been hearing reports that Stewart has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

My spies in Russian Bears Elite Gym inform me that Naoki has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Stewart escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Naoki gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Don Stewart.
Well Stewart has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
