PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dilon Goncalves (ranked 4544 p4p, 603 weight class) and Alexandre Garcia (ranked 3985 p4p, 540 weight class). Goncalves comes into the arena with TAPOUT blaring out of the sound system. Garcia is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by enguinha pocoto. Alexandre Garcia is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dilon Goncalves!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Alexandre Garcia!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Anni Minnemäki and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Garcia doesn't manage to clinch there - Goncalves circles away.
Goncalves attempts a counter takedown but Garcia avoids it well and moves away.
Goncalves shoots in for a double leg but Garcia sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Garcia looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Goncalves is trying to drag Garcia to the mat but Garcia just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Goncalves is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Garcia is defending well for now.

Goncalves changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Garcia fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Goncalves slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Garcia stuffs the takedown attempt from Goncalves. Goncalves gets slowly back to his feet.
Garcia tries for a takedown but Goncalves sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Garcia tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Alexandre Garcia is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Goncalves fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Garcia sprawls well initially but Goncalves persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Goncalves is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Garcia can do to turn this around?
Garcia is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

We've been hearing that Goncalves has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

Garcia is looking for a sweep. Goncalves is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Goncalves, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
