Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jojo Flowers! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, John Tarley! The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Patrick Alders and Aafke Stam.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tarley closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Tarley looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Well, if Tarley is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Flowers knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Tarley on the ground. Flowers is not content to let Tarley control the position. Flowers won't allow Tarley to pass to mount. Tarley stops Flowers from getting back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Flowers is looking to get back to full guard here but Tarley has managed to pass to side control instead. Flowers is working to avoid the ground and pound but Tarley connects with a decent elbow. Tarley lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tarley is looking to take a break and control but Flowers is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Flowers is trying to improve his position. Tarley throwing shots but missing, from side control. Tarley tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Tarley has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Flowers taking a bit of punishment here - Tarley scoring with strikes. Tarley trying to control the position but Flowers is working away. Tarley is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Tarley works to advance to full mount. Flowers defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. Flowers wants to control but Tarley is having none of it. Flowers wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
Tarley looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Tarley looking for a guillotine from mount but Flowers is having none of it. Flowers is trying to get back to his feet but can't. Tarley is landing with some decent strikes but Flowers is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Tarley looking to isolate an arm here. Flowers doesn't see it coming and as Tarley extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by Tarley!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). John Tarley! Jumping up and down and very excited, John Tarley waved his t-shirt featuring Red Light Coffeeshop's logo in front of the cameras.
