Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Victor Rage! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Tommy Tapout! The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Sam Margolis and Paul Tew.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tapout closes this distance looking for a takedown but Rage circles away. Tapout gets caught flat footed, as Rage shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Tapout keeping moving, preventing Rage from controlling successfully. Tapout working for a triangle but Rage defends it easily.
Rage avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Tapout is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Tapout is trying to control the action in half guard but Rage is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Rage is defending against the submission attempts here by Tapout.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tapout passes to side control. Tapout working the ground and pound but Rage is defending the strikes. Rage tries to bench press Tapout off him but Tapout keeps the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Rage is breathing heavily. Rage is trying to control Tapout's posture but Tapout avoids it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Rage tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Tapout wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Rage tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Tapout presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount! Rage tries to hold on but Tapout postures up. Tapout looking for a guillotine from mount but Rage is having none of it. Tapout postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Rage looks a forlorn figure.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Tapout with shots to the head and body - Rage looks very uncomfortable down there. Tapout raining down shots from the mount! Rage swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing. Tapout tries to control but Rage wriggling away. Rage is looking to get to half guard. Rage slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Tapout is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Rage makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Rage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Tapout's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Tapout lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Rage working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Tapout doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Tapout manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Rage is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Rage looking to hit a scissor sweep but Tapout is one step ahead there. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Tommy Tapout dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Tapout shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Tapout misses with a takedown attempt and Rage counters with a shoot takedown. Tapout fights it but they end up in guard. Tapout tries to land a sweep but no joy. Rage trying to stand up but can't free himself from Tapout's guard. Rage stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Tapout swivels though and keeps the full guard. Tapout has his foot on Rage's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Rage works his way back into a safe position though. Tapout looking to control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Rage looking to pass the guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rage drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Tapout manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Rage has Tapout in his guard. Tapout avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Tapout thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Tapout stopping the sweep attempt from Rage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Rage has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Tapout can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Tapout chips away with some ground and pound. Rage looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Tapout passes into side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Tapout is working Rage over with some ground and pound from side control. Tapout controls the position. Rage is working to avoid the ground and pound but Tapout connects with a decent elbow. Rage is looking to reverse the position. Rage is trying to control Tapout's posture but Tapout avoids it. Tapout has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Rage! Tapout is working for a guillotine from mount but Rage frees his head quite easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A nice elbow there by Tapout. Tapout scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Rage?
Rage is bucking up trying to escape but Tapout cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Rage wants to hold on but Tapout pushes him away. Rage is trying desperately to improve position. Tapout has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Tapout trying to control but Rage is having none of it. Tapout working for a guillotine from mount but Rage is in no mood to give up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Tommy Tapout showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!
Rage has his takedown stuffed and Tapout counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Rage's guard now. Tapout showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Tapout trying to control the position from guard on top but Rage is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Tapout postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Tapout trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Rage looking for a guillotine here but Tapout defends easily.

That's one minute gone in the round. Tapout wants to control but Rage is keeping him busy. Rage looking for submissions off his back. Tapout frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rage has given up his back. Will we see Tapout going for some submissions?
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Rage can't escape the position.
Tapout has the hooks in and he's looking for a rear naked choke here. Rage is defending well but eventually Tapout manages to get an arm under the chin and he's locked on the RNC! Rage has no choice but to tap now! He does! This one is all over!
