PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Alejandro Sepulveda (ranked 827 p4p, 129 weight class) and Andy Rothschild (ranked 1348 p4p, 197 weight class). Sepulveda comes to the cage accompanied by Llorando se Fue. Rothschild has chosen Iron Maiden- Wrathchild as his entrance music. Andy Rothschild acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 11 - 2, fighting out of Sydney, Alejandro Sepulveda!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Andy Rothschild!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Alyssa Summers and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sepulveda looks to score with a jab to the body but Rothschild is just out of range.
Rothschild lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Rothschild looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Sepulveda throws a shot to the body.
The crowd cheers as Rothschild lands an impressive looking overhand right. Sepulveda doesn't seem phased though.
Sepulveda connects with a body shot.
Sepulveda takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Rothschild throws a hook but Sepulveda avoids it easily.
Rothschild looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.

Sepulveda throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Rothschild was covering up waiting for the punch and Sepulveda finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Sepulveda moves forwards but Rothschild connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Rothschild swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Rothschild with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Sepulveda to score with a decent uppercut.
Rothschild connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Sepulveda misses with a low kick.
Sepulveda takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Andy Rothschild is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Nice jab there from Rothschild.
Sepulveda throws out a loose jab but Rothschild uses good head movement to avoid it.
A nice side step and Rothschild releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.

Rothschild throws a lazy right hand but Sepulveda sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Rothschild bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Sepulveda's head backwards.
Rothschild smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Andy Rothschild seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Rothschild has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Sepulveda has gone for a leg lock! Rothschild slips out almost immediately though and dives into Sepulveda's guard.

And an attempted straight right on the counter from Rothschild! But no joy.
Sepulveda ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

Rothschild connects with a good right hand that stumbles Sepulveda. Sepulveda circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

Andy Rothschild showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Rothschild cracks Sepulveda with a left hook right on the temple and Sepulveda goes down! He's out! Referee! Stop the fight! Rothschild lands a few more punches before the dopey ref steps in - hopefully Sepulveda is OK!
