Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Hector Laconte (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Lawler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). John Lawler is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Winston Alpacca and Peter Branson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lawler closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Laconte did well to prevent Lawler getting side control.
Laconte tries to roll over but Lawler keeps him under control.
Lawler wants to work for an arm triangle but Laconte is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Laconte takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Laconte wants to control but Lawler postures up.
The referee asks Lawler politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Lawler prefers to stall for the moment though.
Laconte is looking to regain half guard here but Lawler keeps moving and retains side control.
Laconte gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Lawler is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Laconte doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Lawler.
Lawler is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Lawler trying to control the position from guard on top but Laconte is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Lawler got a little sloppy there for a moment and Laconte has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Lawler has managed to get both his arms back between Laconte's legs - danger averted.
Lawler is looking to advance position but Laconte has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
Lawler reaches up to try and control the position but Laconte seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Lawler rolls and tries to escape and now Laconte has his back!
Lawler just trying to survive but Laconte is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Lawler rolls, trying to escape but Laconte keeps control of the position.

A close round but John Lawler will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Lawler feints and as Laconte raises his hands in defense, Lawler changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Laconte looking for a guillotine here but Lawler defends easily.
Lawler has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Lawler postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Laconte is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Lawler, into his guard.
Lawler trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

Laconte looking to sit in guard and control but Lawler gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Lawler content to stall in guard here.
Laconte escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Lawler gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Lawler drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Laconte dives on top into guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Laconte wants to pass the guard but Lawler is keeping the position.
Laconte has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Lawler to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Laconte is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Lawler pulls down on the head and he's put Laconte to sleep! This one is all over!
