Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Quid (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dave Stanyer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Quid comes to the cage accompanied by The Clash - Bank Robber. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Johnny Quid!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Dave Stanyer!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Daniel Bishop and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stanyer waving his hands out infront of him, looking to distract Quid.
Stanyer throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Quid gets the takedown into side control.
Stanyer can't do much from the bottom here.

Quid tries for a kimura but Stanyer is defending well.
Quid working away.
Stanyer tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Quid wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Stanyer struggling a bit here.
Quid tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Quid wants to control but Stanyer is keeping him busy.
Quid has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Stanyer throws a solid leg kick but Quid takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Stanyer.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Quid looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Stanyer is fending him off so far but Quid persists. Nope, Stanyer circles away and we're back to standing.

Quid shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Stanyer wants to control but Quid is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Stanyer wants to get back to his feet.
Quid not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Stanyer is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.

Quid is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Stanyer is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Stanyer really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Quid. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Quid throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Stanyer wants to get back to full guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Stanyer misses with the combination.

Quid drives through and clinches with Stanyer against the cage.
Quid has Stanyer pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Stanyer manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Stanyer lands a knee to the head.

Stanyer manages to break the clinch.

Quid scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Stanyer tries to roll over but Quid keeps him under control.
Stanyer looks gassed!
Stanyer is staying active underneath Quid, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Stanyer controlling the position for now.

Stanyer moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Quid is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Quid slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Stanyer trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Stanyer utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Quid wants to stand but Stanyer is controlling his posture from full guard.
Quid preventing the sweep.
Stanyer keeping moving, preventing Quid from controlling successfully.
Quid would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Quid tries to bum rush Stanyer with a series of wild strikes but Stanyer uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Quid tests Stanyer's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Quid is looking to land body kicks.
Stanyer will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Dave Stanyer is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Stanyer throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
letting Quid counter with a right hand.
Stanyer throws a left and a right that both miss

and Quid counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Quid.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Quid stands and steps away. Stanyer gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Quid throws a series of strikes that have Stanyer backpedaling.
Quid lands a jab-cross combination.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Johnny Quid dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Nice sprawl there from Stanyer as Quid shoots in.
Dave Stanyer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Quid bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Stanyer throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Quid.
Stanyer throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Quid sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Stanyer misses with a head kick.
Johnny Quid is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Stanyer tries to clinch up.
Quid misses with a two punch combination.
Stanyer misses with a straight left.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Stanyer ducks right into an uppercut from Quid.
Stanyer is breathing heavily.
Quid moves in looking to clinch but Stanyer pushes him off.
Quid looks for a takedown but Stanyer sprawls well.

Stanyer darts in and clinches Quid up against the cage.

Quid wants to break free but Stanyer has control.
Stanyer prevents Quid from breaking the clinch.
Stanyer stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Stanyer throws an elbow but it misses.

Stanyer breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Nice takedown defense from Stanyer. No joy for Quid on that attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Johnny Quid. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Stanyer throws a leg kick that misses.

and Quid counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Quid looks for a takedown but Stanyer sprawls well.
Stanyer tries to clinch but Quid moves out of range.

and Quid counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Stanyer keeping moving, preventing Quid from controlling successfully.
Quid lands a couple of elbows.
Stanyer wants to stand but Quid is controlling the position.
Quid sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Stanyer's guard.
Stanyer avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Quid.

Quid is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Stanyer is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
