Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Kirk Sims (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Tolevski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kirk Sims! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jason Tolevski! The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Emerson Jorge and Seu Braga.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sims dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Tolevski is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Tolevski defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Sims. Tolevski looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Tolevski gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Tolevski throws a knee to the head but misses.

Sims tries to clinch up but Tolevski circles away and keeps his distance. Tolevski fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Sims cracks a nice hook into Tolevski's ribs. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Tolevski tries to sprawl but Sims drives through with a takedown into half guard. Tolevski wants to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Tolevski manages to get to full guard.

Tolevski pulls Sims in to control the position. Tolevski is continuing to stall. The adventures of Tolevski the control monster continue. Boring. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Tolevski shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Sims is looking to stand back up but Tolevski counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Sims. Sims wants to control but Tolevski passes into side.

Tolevski manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Sims shoots in but no luck this time. Nice sprawl there from Tolevski as Sims shoots in. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Sims is looking for a sweep. Sims shoots for a double leg takedown but Tolevski sprawls well. He's pushed Sims's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Sims stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Sims wants it to stay on the feet. Tolevski shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Sims manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Sims is trying to control the position from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sims can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Tolevski controls the pace. Sims has his foot on Tolevski's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Tolevski works his way back into a safe position though. Tolevski is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Tolevski looking to pass the guard.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Tolevski gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Sims counters by moving into the clinch. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Tolevski has Sims pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Tolevski pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Sims tumbling to the mat - Tolevski dives into Sims's guard. Sims controls Tolevski momentarily but Tolevski frees himself. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jason Tolevski showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Sims clinches up against the cage. Tolevski wants the takedown. Sims is fighting it off but Tolevski persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Sims's guard against the cage. Sims is wriggling around but Tolevski manages to pass to half guard.

Tolevski throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Sims looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Tolevski is fending him off so far but Sims persists. Nope, Tolevski circles away and we're back to standing.

Sims will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Tolevski gets a double leg takedown into Sims's guard. Sims not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Tolevski controlling from the full mount. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Sims prevents Tolevski from taking his back.

Tolevski seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Sims stands up and waves to Tolevski to follow him.
