Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rickson Fujitsu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jorge Rua!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Leandro Rodrigues and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Rua.
Rua shoots for a takedown but Fujitsu saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Fujitsu looks for a takedown but Rua sprawls well.
Rua takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Fujitsu fails with the takedown

and Rua counters by moving into the clinch.
Rua changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Fujitsu fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Rua misses with an attempted mid kick.

and Fujitsu counters with a big head kick but Rua shrugs it off.
Rickson Fujitsu has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jorge Rua.
Rua looks gassed!
Rua looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
No luck for Fujitsu with that takedown attempt.
Fujitsu throws a wild body kick that Rua sees coming a mile off.
Fujitsu fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Fujitsu misses with a few strikes there.
A punch combination from Fujitsu misses.
Rua closes the distance looking to clinch
and Fujitsu counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Rua tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Fujitsu swivels and escapes.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Rua misses with a takedown

and Fujitsu counters with a takedown into side control.
Rua can't do much from the bottom here.

Fujitsu decides to stand back up. Fujitsu steps back and let's Rua get back to his feet.

Rua shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Rua passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Fujitsu manages to get back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Fujitsu gets back to full guard.
Fujitsu wants to get back to his feet but Rua is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Rua works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Rua misses with a head shot. Fujitsu uses the momentum to regain guard.
Rua trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Rua postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Rua makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Fujitsu working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Rua doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Rua manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Rua wants to control from the top but Fujitsu keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rickson Fujitsu dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Fujitsu shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Rua but Rua pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Rua throws a series of punches but Fujitsu avoids them all with ease.

Rua scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Rua is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Fujitsu is trying to escape and Rua transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Fujitsu is forced to tap! Nice work there by Rua! Very nice indeed!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:47 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Jorge Rua!
