And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 14 - 0, fighting out of New York, David Wuzz!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Shigeki Fujiwara and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shannon leaves Wuzz with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Shannon avoids the body shot from Wuzz.
Wuzz throws a front kick aimed at Shannon's knee but Shannon avoids it well.
Wuzz lands with a straight right. Shannon didn't see that one coming.
A looping hook to the body misses from Shannon. Wuzz does a little dance to reset his feet.
We've been informed that Wuzz has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Wuzz sizes up Shannon with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Shannon misses with a wild body shot.

Wuzz feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Shannon misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Shannon is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Shannon is looking for a sweep. Wuzz is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Shannon flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Still in half guard, Wuzz seems content to control.
Shannon pushes Wuzz off looking to stand but Wuzz dives back in and keeps control.

Wuzz is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Shannon sees it coming and defends easily.
Shannon wants to control but Wuzz is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Shannon knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Wuzz on the ground.

Wuzz is looking for a kimura here.
Wuzz wants to pass to mount but Shannon is defending the position.
Wuzz perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Wuzz prevents Shannon from improving his position.

Wuzz is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Shannon is just riding it out for now. Wuzz eventually gives up the hold.

Shannon has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Wuzz is working away from the top position though.

Wuzz seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Shannon is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
