PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Clark Rivers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ted Norman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Norman has chosen Da Ya Think I'm Sexy? as his entrance music. Ted Norman told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Clark Rivers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Ted Norman!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, James Ackerman and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rivers fails in his attempt to clinch.
Rivers is looking to clinch but Norman is avoiding it.
Norman is trying to counter with his kicks.
Rivers closes the distance and clinches up with Norman, looking for a takedown. Rivers pushes Norman against the cage but Norman circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Norman fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Norman's jab looks to have found its range, popping Rivers under the eye.
Rivers checks the leg kick.
Rivers is looking to counter the offense by Norman and move into the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Norman swats away the attempt to clinch by Rivers.
Rivers fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Norman steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Rivers.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Norman cracks Rivers with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Norman gets tackled into the cage by Rivers. Rivers maintains the clinch.
Norman wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Rivers fails to pull the fight into his guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Clark Rivers. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Rivers jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Norman walks away with a smile on his face. Rivers gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Norman clinches.
Rivers fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Norman working hard to break the clinch.
Norman has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Norman wants to take the fight to the mat but Rivers manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Rivers tries to pull guard but Norman won't allow it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Rivers is trying to pull guard but Norman turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Rivers looking for a takedown.

Rivers manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Norman throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Norman got a little sloppy there for a moment and Rivers has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Norman has managed to get both his arms back between Rivers's legs - danger averted.
Rivers is breathing heavily.
Norman is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Norman trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Rivers being controlled here, momentarily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Norman scores with a jab to the jaw.


It looks like Clark Rivers has been cut.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Norman throws a sloppy head kick and Rivers moves out of range easily.
As Norman tries to get set, Rivers tries to push him back and clinch up but Norman manages to avoid the attempt.
Norman scores with a three punch combo!
The fight stays on the outside here - Rivers looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Norman is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.

Norman gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Rivers tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Norman just stands there and leans against the cage.
Norman gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Rivers.
Rivers tries a body shot but Norman blocks it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ted Norman dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Clark Rivers's cut.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Norman lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.


Rivers is rocked!
Rivers doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Norman counters with a monster hook and another for good measure! Rivers falls to the ground, out cold! Stick some heavy metal music over the top of that clip and it's one for the highlight makers!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:13 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Ted Norman!
Ted Norman made sure to give a little speech post fight, saying 'It feels great to win on my debut, I wanna thank my coaches and fans.'.
