Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Joao Pinto! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Yami Kami! The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Edson Gomes and Seu Braga.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! No luck with that takedown attempt from Kami. Some wild striking there from Kami.
Pinto misses with a head kick.
Pinto closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Pinto fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Pinto throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Kami breaks from the clinch.
Pinto dives in for a single leg takedown but Kami sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Kami is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kami shoots in but no luck this time. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Kami. Joao Pinto has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Yami Kami. Kami takes the fight into the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pinto manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Pinto will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Kami working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Pinto's head. Pinto seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Kami trying to control but Pinto is working from the bottom. Pinto really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Pinto being controlled here, momentarily. Pinto is adopting a defensive guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Kami connects with a couple of short punches. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kami postures up.
Kami wants to control from the top but Pinto keeps moving. Kami tries to stand but Pinto is controlling from the bottom.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Kami displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Pinto. The fight stays on the outside here - Kami looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kami closes the distance and clinches up with Pinto, looking for a takedown. Kami pushes Pinto against the cage but Pinto circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Pinto shoots in for a double leg but Kami sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Kami fails to land with a series of punches.
Pinto looked to counter with a high kick but didn't commit. No luck with that takedown attempt from Kami. Pinto tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Kami defends well and Pinto ends up having to push Kami into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Kami looks like he wants to counter punch here. Kami moves into the clinch successfully.
Kami has Pinto pressed against the cage, preventing Pinto from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Pinto drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Kami gets the underhooks and prevents it.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Pinto pushing down on Kami's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Pinto content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Kami looks like he's trying to stand up.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Pinto wants to free his trapped foot but Kami is holding on for dear life with his legs. Kami has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Pinto is working away from the top position though. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Yami Kami will probably get the nod. That's time! Pinto's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Pinto shoots for a double leg takedown but Kami sprawls well. He's pushed Pinto's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Kami tries to keep at a distance but Pinto has taken the fight into the clinch. Kami is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Pinto to keep the fight standing. Pinto can't get the takedown.

Kami forces Pinto back against the cage and clinches. Kami is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Pinto tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Kami just stands there and leans against the cage. Kami's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. Pinto drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Kami gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Kami trying to control the position from guard on top but Pinto is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Kami stays in close to Pinto's body and controls the position. Pinto bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Kami's guard. Kami throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Kami is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Pinto is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Pinto tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Kami manages to circle out of the way. A low kick from Pinto is predictable there so Kami counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Pinto is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Pinto's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. That was a close second round but I would say that Joao Pinto will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

He's persisting with it as Kami sprawls well. Kami wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Pinto gets slowly back to his feet. Kami thinks about the counter body kick. Pinto tries to free his leg and advance position but Kami is retaining full guard. Kami has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Pinto sitting in guard here, content to control.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pinto dives in and grabs Kami's left leg, looking for a takedown. Kami pushes down on Pinto's head and hops out. Pinto tries to clinch there but Kami circles away.
No luck for Pinto with that takedown attempt. Kami is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch. Kami moves in looking to clinch but Pinto pushes him off. Kami with a lazy takedown attempt and Pinto counters with a lovely shot to the body. Kami keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Pinto tries to clinch up but Kami circles away and keeps his distance. Kami appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body. Kami misses with a jab, cross combination.
Yami Kami seems to be getting the better of the standup. Pinto scores to the head and body with a nice combination!

Kami shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Pinto pinned against the cage. Pinto gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Kami wants to clinch. Pinto seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter. Pinto pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Kami darts in and clinches Pinto up against the cage. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Kami escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Pinto lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Yami Kami. I think Kami has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
