The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sampson uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Belfort. Belfort looks to score with a jab to the body but Sampson is just out of range. Sampson throws a series of strikes that have Belfort backpedaling.

Sampson misses with a wild body shot. Sampson throws a body punch but Belfort moves out of range. Belfort jabs Sampson to the body, keeping him at a distance. Sampson fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Sampson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Sampson fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Belfort looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Sampson misses with a double jab.
Belfort throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Sampson swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.

Belfort lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Sampson circles away quickly and effectively. Sampson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Sampson feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Belforts jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! Belfort throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Sampson jabs at Belfort's body. Sampson throws a series of punches but Belfort moves out of range. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Sloppy strikes from Sampson. Those never looked like landing. Sampson drops Belfort with a big left hand! Belfort is injured, injured bad! Sampson jumps in and finished him with strikes! The fight is over!
