Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ronnie Rolla (ranked 1150 p4p, 154 weight class) and Cyril Westlake (ranked 1406 p4p, 193 weight class). 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ronnie Rolla! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
15 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Cyril Westlake! The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Chris Edwards and James Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Westlake listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. Rolla has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. The fighters circle momentarily. Rolla darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Jab from Rolla. Westlake ducks under a wild hook from Rolla. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Westlake! But no joy. Rolla uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Westlake. Rolla misses with a left hand and Westlake counters with a stiff right hand. Westlake throws a right hand that misses
and Rolla counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Westlake looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Rolla throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Westlake stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Rolla falls off balance throwing a combination
and Westlake makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Westlake uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Rolla has time to react. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Westlake throws a hook but Rolla blocks it. Westlake throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Rolla sees it coming and avoids it easily. Rolla throws a jab but it's blocked by Westlake. It seemed like Westlake was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

and Westlake counters with a stiff right hand. Rolla misses with a wild combination.

It looks like Cyril Westlake has been cut. Westlake gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Rolla. Rolla walks into a left hand. Rolla keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Westlake. Some wild striking there from Rolla.
Westlake lands a big right hand that sends Rolla crashing to the mat! Westlake stays standing though and waves Rolla back to his feet!

That's two minutes gone in the round. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Westlake throws out a loose jab but Rolla uses good head movement to avoid it. Westlake just misses with a punch to the body.

Westlake throws a hook but Rolla avoids it easily. A slow jab from Westlake misses its intended target. Rolla is looking to counter punch. Rolla throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Westlake looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Westlake misses with an uppercut. Rolla saw that one coming. Westlake gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Rolla looks to score with a jab to the body but Westlake is just out of range. A countering left hand to the body from Westlake misses. Rolla throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Good standup being displayed there by Westlake as he connects with a hook. Sloppy strikes from Rolla. Those never looked like landing. Westlake lands a big uppercut and Rolla crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Rolla looks OK. Westlake waves Rolla back to his feet! Oh Rolla is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Westlake throws an overhand right that lands on Rolla's shoulder, as Rolla tries to avoid the shot. Rolla misses with a two punch combination.

Rolla throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Rolla lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Westlake backs up against the cage.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Westlake misses with a right hand and Rolla cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Rolla throws a right hand that misses
and Westlake counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Rolla misses with a double jab.
Westlake is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Rolla with a body shot. Rolla will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

and Westlake counters with a series of strikes that practically lifts Rolla off his feet! He tumbles backwards, his head bouncing off the mat - Westlake follows up with more strikes before the ref can step in but Rolla was out before he hit the floor.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Cyril Westlake! Our winner, Cyril Westlake, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
