Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between John Chester (ranked 7202 p4p, 761 weight class) and James Ejayi (ranked 6512 p4p, 731 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, John Chester! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, James Ejayi! The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Chris Saunders and Josh West.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ejayi misses with a looping right. Ejayi swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Chester tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Ejayi manages to circle out of the way. A decent looking cross lands there for Ejayi. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Chester. Chester shoots in and bounces Ejayi off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Chester content to stall in guard here. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Chester advances to half guard. Chester with the ground and pound but Ejayi uses the opportunity to regain guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Chester throws a big right hand that misses. Chester is looking to work some ground and pound but Ejayi has wrist control. Chester is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Chester controlling from the top position. Ejayi avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Chester wants to control from the top but Ejayi keeps moving. Chester content to stall in guard here. Chester prevents Ejayi from getting back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Chester controls from within his opponent's guard. Chester is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Ejayi preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Chester postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Chester thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Ejayi working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Chester. Chester is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Chester trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Chester working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Ejayi working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Chester. Chester looking to pass the guard. Chester wants to control from the top but Ejayi keeps moving.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. A combination from Ejayi does no damage. Ejayi looks winded! Chester looks to throw the jab but Ejayi is out of range. Chester checks the leg kick nicely there.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky. Chester shoots in looking for a takedown. Ejayi tries to sprawl out of it but Chester keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Ejayi manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Ejayi takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A big left from Chester misses. Ejayi takes a swing at Chester's ribcage but misses. A little feinted left hand from Chester on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Ejayi misses with a double jab.
Ejayi gets caught flat footed, as Chester shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Chester working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Chester throws a big right hand that misses. Chester stays in close to Ejayi's body and controls the position. Chester slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Chester in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Ejayi is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). John Chester! John Chester spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
