Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Konrad Afa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cole Sheerwood (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Afa is coming into this fight with a significant injury, which will no doubt have an effect on his cardio. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Konrad Afa! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Cole Sheerwood! The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Topper Green and Hugh Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sheerwood goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Afa is breathing heavily. Afa throws a series of punches but Sheerwood moves out of range. Sheerwood misses with a kick to the body.
Afa blocks a head kick by Sheerwood.
Afa seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance. A momentary lapse in concentration from Afa enables Sheerwood to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Afa manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Afa is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Sheerwood dives into side control.
Sheerwood is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Afa's shoulder. That is not cool. Sheerwood cracks Afa with a big elbow. The referee asks Sheerwood politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Sheerwood prefers to stall for the moment though. Sheerwood decides to stand back up. Sheerwood steps back and let's Afa get back to his feet. Sheerwood gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Sheerwood has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Afa is trying to keep an underhook but Sheerwood manages to get the takedown into half guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Sheerwood is controlling the pace.
Sheerwood lands with a punch from half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sheerwood is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Sheerwood decides to stand up. Sheerwood clinches up with Afa and pushes him back against the cage. Sheerwood pulls guard successfully.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Sheerwood is on top in guard.
Sheerwood slips nicely into half guard. Sheerwood working over Afa with some ground and pound. Afa looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Sheerwood has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sheerwood performing his best blanket impression for a moment. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Sheerwood connects with a nice short shot to Afa's temple. Sheerwood is nestled in close to Afa, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Sheerwood content to control rather than advance. Afa on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Afa tries to get out of the position. Sheerwood's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
That's three minutes gone in the round. More stalling from Sheerwood. Sheerwood winds up and cracks Afa with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Sheerwood takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Sheerwood working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Sheerwood in particular looking to stall.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Sheerwood is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Sheerwood sitting and controlling from the half guard. Afa is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Sheerwood scores with a couple of nice shots. Afa might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Afa is trying to stand.
Sheerwood postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Afa to stand up. Sheerwood drives through with a takedown into Afa's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Afa wants to get back to his feet but Sheerwood passes into half guard.
Sheerwood takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Sheerwood moves into full mount! Afa won't be happy about that! Sheerwood controlling the pace for now. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Cole Sheerwood dominated that round. That's time! Afa's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Sheerwood throws a right and a left that Afa avoids nicely. Sheerwood drives through and clinches with Afa against the cage.
Sheerwood manages to break the clinch.
Sheerwood closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Afa did well to prevent Sheerwood getting side control. Sheerwood has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Sheerwood seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Sheerwood is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Sheerwood escapes and gets back to his feet. Sheerwood tries to clinch up. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sheerwood throws a sloppy head kick and Afa moves out of range easily. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Afa avoids the head kick by Sheerwood.
Sheerwood drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Afa is looking to get back to his feet here but Sheerwood is keeping cool and he's managed to take Afa's back. This has been an exciting period of action! Sheerwood is riding his opponent, not letting Afa buck him off.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sheerwood is working for a rear naked choke. Afa is not defending it well and Sheerwood has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Afa refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Afa's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:30 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Cole Sheerwood! An out of breath Cole Sheerwood thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
