Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Matvey Pavlov (ranked 2207 p4p, 244 weight class) and Maverick Syndal (ranked 2481 p4p, 269 weight class). Maverick Syndal will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Matvey Pavlov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Maverick Syndal! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Frank Dennis and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pavlov shoots in and gets a takedown into Syndal's guard. Pavlov definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Syndal keeping full guard, as Pavlov tries to pass. Pavlov might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Syndal wants to stand up but Pavlov is controlling him. Syndal looking to hit a scissor sweep but Pavlov is one step ahead there. Syndal is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Syndal keeping moving, preventing Pavlov from controlling successfully. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pavlov drops back looking for a leg! Syndal is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Syndal manages to kick Pavlov off! Pavlov jumps back into Syndal's guard. Pavlov is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Pavlov sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Syndal's guard. Syndal is staying active underneath Pavlov, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Syndal really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pavlov. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Pavlov is looking for a kimura here.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Pavlov jumps guard but Syndal stands there with Pavlov around his waist. Pavlov gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Pavlov shoots in looking for a takedown but Syndal manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Pavlov's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Pavlov circles away from the clinch attempt.
Nice body punch from Syndal. Syndal defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Pavlov. Syndal tries to close the distance and clinch but Pavlov swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. A jab lands there for Syndal. Syndal tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Syndal moves into the clinch. Syndal has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Syndal stalling in the clinch but Pavlov improves position. Syndal wants to stall.
Pavlov tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Syndal just stands there and leans against the ropes. Syndal pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Pavlov shoots in for a takedown but Syndal shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Pavlov shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Syndal pinned against the ropes. Syndal gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Maverick Syndal showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Pavlov's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Matvey Pavlov overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Pavlov controlling the position from side mount. He has the arm isolated but Syndal is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Pavlov thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Pavlov trying to control the action but Syndal is working from the bottom. Syndal wants to control but Pavlov postures up. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Matvey Pavlov had his way with Maverick Syndal in that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!
Pavlov shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Syndal but Syndal pushes him off and we're back to square one. The fight stays on the outside here - Syndal looks like he's thinking about clinching though. A cross from Syndal lands. Pavlov shoots in looking for a takedown. Syndal tries to sprawl out of it but Pavlov keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Syndal manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Pavlov will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Matvey Pavlov. That's going to take a lot out of him. Pavlov closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Pavlov lands in his opponent's guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Syndal looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Syndal controlling the position for now. Pavlov uses his free foot to push down on Syndal's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Syndal. Pavlov prevents Syndal from getting the reversal.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Syndal tries to buck Pavlov off but he can't manage it. Pavlov working for a guillotine from mount but Syndal is in no mood to give up. Syndal has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.
Pavlov is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Syndal has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here. Syndal trying to control the position but Pavlov manages to sink in the hooks. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Pavlov looking for the RNC. Syndal felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Syndal showing good submission defense here.
Syndal is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Pavlov off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted. Syndal is in bad spot here.
