Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Texas Pete (ranked 966 p4p, 146 weight class) and Trent Punchy (ranked 1040 p4p, 153 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Trent Punchy was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
31 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Texas Pete! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
25 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Trent Punchy! The judges for this bout are William Peck, Alec Ball and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pete jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Punchy looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Pete was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit. Punchy throws a hook but Pete avoids it easily. Punchy digs a good hook to Pete's body.
Pete scores with a hook. Pete ducks under a wild hook from Punchy. An attempted straight right counter from Pete misses the target. Punchy fails with the takedown and Punchy takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Pete scores with a jab. A big right from Pete misses. Nice body punch from Pete. Punchy gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Pete swings and misses with a shot to the body and Punchy cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Pete throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Punchy counters with a takedown into side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. I wouldn't like to be where Pete is right now. Pete is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Pete is trying to control Punchy's posture but Punchy avoids it. Pete tries to get back to half guard but can't. Punchy wants to control but Pete is keeping him busy. Punchy is trying to ground and pound but Pete uses the momentary lack of control by Punchy to regain half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Pete has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Punchy is working away from the top position though. Pete manages to get to full guard.
Punchy trying to control but Pete is working from the bottom. Punchy content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Pete has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Punchy with a nice head shot there.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Punchy with a flurry of punches that miss. Punchy tries to free his leg and advance position but Pete is retaining full guard. Pete wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Punchy wants to control from the top but Pete keeps moving. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Punchy content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Punchy throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Pete works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Punchy throws a big right hand that misses. Punchy trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Punchy postures up in Pete's guard and throws a big left but Pete blocks it. Pete working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Punchy. Punchy wants to control from the top but Pete keeps moving.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Punchy ducks under a wild hook from Pete. Pete ducks right into an uppercut from Punchy. Pete just misses with a punch to the body.
A left and a right from Pete both land. Nice combination. Pete uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Punchy. Punchy misses with a series of wild punches.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Trent Punchy will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Pete misses with a shot to the body and Punchy counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Punchy throws a left and a right that both miss
and Pete counters with a nice uppercut. Trent Punchy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Punchy lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Pete has a couple of punches blocked by Punchy.
Punchy wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Punchy swings wildly with an uppercut but Pete uses good head movement to avoid it. Pete gets through Punchy's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. Pete scores with a nice hook to the head. An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Pete. Still in the clinch, Punchy scores with a nice short uppercut. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Pete tries to work over Punchy's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Pete tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Punchy's elbow. Pete swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Pete goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Punchy content to slow the pace in the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Punchy lands a right hand. Pete lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Pete's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Pete fails in his attempt to clinch. A little jabbing left from Punchy on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Sloppy strikes from Punchy. Those never looked like landing. Pete fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Punchy looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Punchy takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Pete scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Punchy misses with a left hand and Pete counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Texas Pete is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Some wild striking there from Pete.
Punchy tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Punchy misses with a double jab.

Punchy lands with a cross. Punchy keeps the fight on the outside. Punchy changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Punchy throws a shot from downtown. Pete moves away and avoids it. Pete ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Punchy misses with a left hand and Pete counters with a stiff right hand. Pete moves out of range of the strikes.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Punchy ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Punchy waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Pete. Pete throws a looping overhand right but Punchy ducks down to avoid it. Pete lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Punchy keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Pete. A shot to the liver by Pete. Beautiful body shot. Pete's jab looks to have found its range, popping Punchy under the eye. Pete looks to land a right hand but Punchy moved out of range. Punchy staying out of range there. Punchy moves forwards but Pete connects with a nice, crisp jab. Punchy with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Pete to score with a decent uppercut.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Punchy walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Pete missing with a left hand there. Punchy was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Punchy doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter. Pete connects with a body shot. Pete throws out a loose jab but Punchy uses good head movement to avoid it. Pete throws a big shot that misses. Punchy ducks under a wild hook from Pete. Pete throws a jab when Punchy was well out of range. Punchy with the counter takedown but Pete avoids it easily. Pete on the wrong end of a nice jab. Punchy lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Pete looks to land a left hand but Punchy moved out of range nicely. Punchy might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. Punchy shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Pete napping and manages to drive through into side control! The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. Punchy wants to control but Pete is keeping him busy. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Texas Pete will probably get the nod. That's time! Back to the action! And we move into the final round!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Pete misses with a straight right. Punchy looks like he wants to counter punch here. Punchy throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Pete misses with a hook to the body
and Punchy counters with a one-two to the body. This has been an exciting period of action! Punchy throws a shot from downtown. Pete moves away and avoids it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Punchy defending well as Pete loads up on a big left hand. Punchy is trying to counter with his kicks. Punchy takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Pete throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

It looked like Pete wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Punchy lands an overhand right. That's three minutes gone in the round. Punchy uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Punchy lands a glancing blow to the side of Pete's head. Punchy takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Pete throws a series of punches but Punchy avoids them all with ease. Punchy takes a swing at Pete's ribcage but misses. Pete swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect. Punchy throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Pete was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Pete swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Punchy swings for the body but Pete moves out of range.
Pete scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Punchy misses with a jab to the body
and Pete counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Pete throws a poor cross that misses
and Punchy connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Punchy tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Pete was well out of range. Poor timing from Punchy. Pete swinging wildly here.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Pete throws a body punch but Punchy moves out of range. Punchy throws a jab but it's blocked by Pete. Pete fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Punchy manages to avoid it. Punchy has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye. Pete looks to land a left hand but Punchy moved out of range nicely. Pete misses with a lunging right hand
and Punchy cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Pete takes one to the chin there. Punchy throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Pete is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Trent Punchy. I think Punchy has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
