The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McGill uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Shepard.
McGill moves in looking to clinch but Shepard pushes him off.
Shepard drops down looking for a counter takedown but McGill sprawls and moves away.

McGill moves into the clinch successfully.
McGill has a couple of punches blocked by Shepard.
McGill throws a head punch that misses.
McGill misses with a short punch on the inside.
Shepard throws a blind hook that connects with the side of McGills head.
McGill throws a head punch that misses.
Still in the clinch, Shepard scores with a nice short uppercut.
McGill blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Shepard lands on the inside with an uppercut.
McGill swings wildly with an uppercut but Shepard uses good head movement to avoid it.

Shepard has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but McGill regains guard immediately.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Shepard cracks McGill with a solid left hand.

McGill is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

We've been hearing good reports from Shepard's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Shepard accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Shepard has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing McGill to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Shepard is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - McGill pulls down on the head and he's put Shepard to sleep! This one is all over!
