Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Major Hicks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 6 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Lennox Zelaya!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Dmitry Maklakov and Viktor Lagutenko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hicks takes a head kick and keeps coming.
It looks like Major Hicks has been cut.
Zelaya throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Hicks's waist but Hicks gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Zelaya off to one side.
Lennox Zelaya seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Zelaya is trying hard to land a takedown here. Hicks sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Zelaya shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Hicks wants to sweep but no luck.
Hicks tries to strike from the bottom.
Hicks is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Zelaya is controlling him.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Zelaya wants to get up but he can't break Hicks's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Zelaya stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hicks swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Zelaya working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Zelaya gets to his feet. Hicks looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Zelaya throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Hicks is rocked!
Zelaya lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Oh Hicks is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Zelaya lands an uppercut, right on the button! Hicks tumbles backwards into the cage, staring vacantly into space! He's got no idea where he is, who he is or what day it is... Poor guy.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:21 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Lennox Zelaya!
Lennox Zelaya spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
