PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ray Fisher (ranked 1996 p4p, 220 weight class) and Justo Jose Urquiza (ranked 3246 p4p, 328 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Ray Fisher!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Justo Jose Urquiza!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Winston Alpacca and Dirk Anderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fisher connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Urquiza takes the fight into the clinch.
Fisher is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Urquiza is defending well for now.
Urquiza cracks Fisher with a nice body shot.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Urquiza.
Urquiza fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Urquiza stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Urquiza scores with a nice hook to the head.
Fisher tries to land knees in the clinch but Urquiza avoids the damage to the body.
Urquiza tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Fisher's elbow.
Fisher is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Urquiza is defending well for now.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Urquiza tries to throw a body punch but Fisher avoids it by throwing Urquiza back against the cage.
Fisher misses with a knee to the head.
Fisher wants a takedown but no success here.

Fisher is trying to trip Urquiza. He has hold of a leg but Urquiza is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Fisher persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Fisher definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Urquiza looking to control.
Urquiza will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Fisher stands and throws Urquiza's legs to the side, diving into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Fisher is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Urquiza has escaped the position, nice work there.

Fisher tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Fisher advances nicely into full mount.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Fisher tries to control but Urquiza wriggling away.
Urquiza stops Fisher from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.
Urquiza swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
Fisher tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Fisher swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Urquiza is now in Fisher's guard. A big mistake from Fisher there, giving up the dominant position!
Urquiza throws an elbow that misses. Fisher uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Urquiza's guard. Nice move by Fisher!

Urquiza striking off his back but it's not causing Fisher any problems.

Fisher slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Urquiza looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Fisher is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Urquiza looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Fisher slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Urquiza is trying to control Fisher's posture but Fisher avoids it.
Fisher content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Urquiza can't do much from the bottom here.
Fisher is looking to take a break and control but Urquiza is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Fisher is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Urquiza has escaped the position, nice work there.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Urquiza is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Fisher is controlling him well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ray Fisher dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Urquiza closes the distance and clinches.
Urquiza lands an uppercut.
Urquiza on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Fisher taking a breather.
Fisher trying to land knees to the body.
Urquiza presses Fisher against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
A right handed body shot lands from Urquiza.
Fisher using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Urquiza has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Urquiza lands with a light punch inside.

Fisher has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Urquiza after a bit of a struggle.

The referee calls for Fisher to work.
Fisher tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Urquiza lands a body shot in the clinch.
Fisher looking to throw knees to the head but Urquiza is blocking nicely.
Urquiza misses with some punches.
Urquiza lands a hook that snaps the head of Fisher backwards.
Fisher trying to land knees to the body.
Urquiza presses Fisher against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Urquiza lands a hook to the side of the head.
Urquiza lands with a right to the head.
Fisher taking a breather.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ray Fisher. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Urquiza avoiding damage as Fisher throws knees to the body.
Urquiza gets through Fisher's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Urquiza is pressed up against the cage. Fisher has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Urquiza down to the mat. Urquiza avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Fisher blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
A bit of stalling here from Fisher.
A short left from Urquiza.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Urquiza lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Fisher backwards.
Justo Jose Urquiza seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.
Urquiza lands a left hand.


Fisher is rocked!
Urquiza unloads with a big right hand that wobbles Fisher! He's leaning against the cage trying to keep his feet but Urquiza is unloading with more strikes now! Fisher drops to his knees and the referee stops the fight for a TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:33 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Justo Jose Urquiza!
A relieved looking Justo Jose Urquiza thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
