The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Taro Takaoka and Yukihiro Shimada.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Holban works Laul's body with a nice hook.
Laul looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Holban!
A lull in the action here.
Holban takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Holban tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Laul presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The referee warns Holban that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Holban bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Laul is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Holban holds on and takes a little breather.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Laul will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Holban avoids the body shot from Laul.
Holban looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.

and Laul holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Holban wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Laul has him pressed against the cage.
Laul breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Holban tries to score a power double leg takedown but Laul sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Holban somewhat.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Laul doesn't manage to clinch there - Holban circles away.
Holban wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.

Laul has Holban pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Laul pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Holban tumbling to the mat - Laul dives into Holban's guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Holban throws a combination. Laul tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Holban fails with a takedown attempt.
Laul checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Laul closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Holban's guard.
Holban has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Laul has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Holban is trying to break the clinch but Laul is controlling him.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Laul wants to lay and pray for a moment but Holban keeps working.

Let's hope that Laul has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Carl Laul comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
