Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Alberto Simon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fabiano Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fabiano Gracie has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Alberto Simon's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Alberto Simon! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Fabiano Gracie! The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Nard Betker and Aafke Stam.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gracie is trying hard to land a takedown here. Simon sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Simon went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected. Simon gets tackled into the cage by Gracie. Gracie maintains the clinch. Gracie pulls Simon into guard.
Simon in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Simon has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Gracie is proving hard to escape from. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Simon trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful. Simon working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Gracie's head. Simon really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Simon stopping the sweep attempt from Gracie. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gracie is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Simon defends well. Gracie bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Simon's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gracie postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Gracie throws a strike but Simon rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Gracie has a closed guard, preventing Simon from standing up. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Simon working some strikes from top position. Gracie has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Simon tries to stand but Gracie is controlling from the bottom. Simon throws a strike but Gracie rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gracie slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Gracie works a leg free and moves into half guard. Gracie seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Simon does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Gracie not doing much here.
Let's hope that Gracie has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Gracie working the head and body with strikes. Gracie sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Simon defending well though. Gracie not doing much here.
Simon works his way to full guard. Good work. Gracie is stalling in the full guard. Gracie pushing down on Simon's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gracie is looking to advance position but Simon won't allow it. Gracie controlling the pace. Gracie tries to pass the half guard into mount. Simon knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Gracie content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Gracie passes the guard and advances to mount! Simon knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gracie on the ground. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Simon defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Gracie. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Fabiano Gracie dominated that round. That's time! Simon's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Simon tries to keep at a distance but Gracie has taken the fight into the clinch. Simon is trying to force a seperation but Gracie has the dominant position. Gracie has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Simon clear over his head and slammed him to the mat! Simon manages to scramble and ends up in full guard, under a barage of strikes . Great composure from Simon. Gracie is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Gracie wants to control from the top but Simon keeps moving. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gracie passes into half guard. Gracie works his way into side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gracie controls the position from side control. Gracie wants to control but Simon is keeping him busy. The referee asks Gracie politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Gracie prefers to stall for the moment though. Gracie tries to score with some ground and pound. Simon controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. Gracie tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gracie passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Simon! Gracie takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Gracie misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Gracie thowing shots but they're missing. Gracie punching from mount but Simon doing a good job of avoiding damage. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gracie controlling from mount. Simon avoids a series of strikes thrown by Gracie.
Gracie throws some wild stikes that Simon manages to avoid easily.

Gracie working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Gracie controlling his opponent. Gracie has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gracie misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Gracie moves into range and clinches up with Simon. Simon wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Gracie has him pressed against the cage. Simon wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Simon is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Gracie is keeping busy. Simon successfully pulls guard.
Gracie throws a strike but Simon rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Fabiano Gracie has got the better of the ground game so far. Simon throwing strikes from guard but Gracie blocks nicely. Gracie lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Gracie. Gracie looking to pass the guard. Gracie controls from within his opponent's guard. Gracie's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Gracie passes easily into side control. Nice work. Gracie tries to score with some ground and pound. Simon controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Gracie misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Gracie controls the position. Gracie is continuing to stall. Simon gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there! Simon is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gracie moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Simon has worked his arm free - good work by Simon!
Gracie tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Gracie has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Gracie advances to full mount. Gracie controlling from mount. Gracie dominating with strikes here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gracie is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Gracie extends the arm and Simon is forced to tap!
