Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
34 - 21 - 2, fighting out of New York, Samuel Washington! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Frank Williams! The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Columbo Gatti and Anthony Taglia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! No luck for Williams with that takedown attempt. Williams tries to close the distance and clinch up but Washington swats him away and circles back towards the center. Washington fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Williams shoots and misses and Washington cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Williams with a lazy takedown attempt and Washington cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Samuel Washington has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Frank Williams. Williams has his takedown stuffed and Washington counters with a nice leg kick. Williams fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Washington avoids it really well and circles away. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Williams tries for a takedown but Washington circles away easily letting Washington counter with a right hand.
That's one minute gone in the round. No luck with that takedown attempt from Williams. Williams fails with the takedown and Washington counters with a stiff right hand. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Washington, as that shot connected.
Williams misses with a takedown and Washington counters with a one-two to the body. Williams tries to clinch up. Washington with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Williams takes a shot right to the bread basket. Washington lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Washington lands with a kick to the temple. Williams shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Williams is rocked! This has been an exciting period of action! Washington lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Williams at a distance.
Williams is still on wobbly legs! Can Washington finish him?
That's two minutes gone in the round. Williams shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Washington counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Williams looks winded! Nice uppercut lands for Washington. That snapped Williams's head back.
Williams shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Washington is looking to counter with a shot to the body. Washington cracks a nice hook into Williams's ribs. Williams shoots in but no luck this time. Williams seems to have recovered his senses. Williams walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Williams takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Washington fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Donk. Washington catches Williams right on the button with a cross. Washington lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Washington lands a nice shot to the body.
Williams gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Washington counters with a straight right hand. Washington scores with a nice strike. Washington connects with a body shot that sends Williams's belly button to the back. Williams with a poor takedown and Washington counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Washington scores with a jab. Williams acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Washington throws an overhand right that drops Williams like a sack of potatoes! Washington dives in to finish the fight with more strikes and this one is all over!
