Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Greg Battle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tim Ronell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Greg Battle has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Greg Battle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Tim Ronell!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, James Glass and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Battle takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Ronell darts in and clinches Battle up against the cage.
Battle blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Battle is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Ronell pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Battle tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Battle jumps guard but Ronell stands there with Battle around his waist. Battle gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Greg Battle. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Battle tries to pull guard but Ronell won't allow it.

Battle is trying to pull guard but Ronell turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ronell pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Ronell defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Battle.
Ronell throws a low kick but it's checked well by Battle.
Battle tried to counter with a leg kick but Ronell avoided it.

Ronell scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Ronell tries to stand but Battle is controlling his head.

Ronell is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Battle's shoulder. That is not cool.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ronell stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Ronell darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Ronell not doing much here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Ronell stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Battle to get to his feet.

Ronell gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Battle jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Ronell walks away with a smile on his face. Battle gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Ronell throws a body kick that misses.

Ronell shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Battle is trying to defend but Ronell finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Battle wants to control but Ronell is keeping busy.
Ronell seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Still in half guard, Ronell seems content to control.

Ronell wants to work for an arm triangle but Battle is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Battle is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Ronell is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Battle is just riding it out for now. Ronell eventually gives up the hold.
Battle might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Ronell escapes and gets back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


A head kick misses from Battle.

Ronell looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Battle!
Battle tries to buck Ronell off but Ronell is having none of it.
Ronell wants to stand but Battle is controlling his arm.
Ronell staying calm.
Ronell has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Battle!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ronell lands a heavy elbow.

Ronell stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
A head kick misses from Ronell.
An attempted straight right counter from Battle misses the target.
Ronell has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Ronell gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Ronell has Battle pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Ronell pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Battle tumbling to the mat - Ronell dives into Battle's guard.
Ronell is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Battle is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Ronell wants to control from the top but Battle keeps moving.

Let's hope that Ronell has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Ronell is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Ronell's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Tim Ronell has got the better of the ground game so far.

Ronell drops back, looking for a kneebar! Battle looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Battle looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Battle!

Battle wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ronell keeps working.

Ronell gets back to half guard.
Ronell is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Battle's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Battle's back!

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Tim Ronell showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Ronell lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Ronell wants to control from the top but Battle keeps moving.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Ronell closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Ronell turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Battle tries to improve position but can't.
Battle is not content to let Ronell control the position.
Ronell wants to stand but Battle is controlling his arm.
Battle prevents Ronell from moving into mount.
Ronell tries to score with some ground and pound. Battle controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Ronell wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Battle, who protects the arm well.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Ronell's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Battle takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Battle is working to avoid the ground and pound but Ronell connects with a decent elbow.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Ronell works to advance to full mount. Battle defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Greg Battle has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Tim Ronell is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Tim Ronell comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Ronell has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
