Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Gustavo Carballo (ranked 5348 p4p, 587 weight class) and Roy Benavidez (ranked 2849 p4p, 369 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gustavo Carballo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Roy Benavidez! The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Roosa Järviläinen and Tarja Halkonen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carballo drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
It looks like Gustavo Carballo has been cut. Benavidez scores with a crisp jab that stopped Carballo in his tracks. Benavidez jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Benavidez scores with a punch to the head. Carballo takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Benavidez is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range. Carballo has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Carballo there as he acknowledges the shot. Carballo dives in and grabs Benavidez's left leg, looking for a takedown. Benavidez pushes down on Carballo's head and hops out. Carballo gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Benavidez counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Carballo closes this distance looking for a takedown but Benavidez circles away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gustavo Carballo. That's going to take a lot out of him. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Benavidez lunges at Carballo with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Carballo's hand.
Gustavo Carballo's cut is getting worse. A lazy left from Benavidez finds it's target. Benavidez dives in and scores a takedown into Carballo's guard. Benavidez is pushing down on Carballo's leg trying to pass to half guard. Carballo is fighting to maintain full guard but Benavidez has managed to sneak the leg through. Carballo is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Carballo won't allow Benavidez to pass to mount.
That's one minute gone in the round. Benavidez is taking a breather. Carballo says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Carballo is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Benavidez pulls his head out easily. Carballo is breathing heavily. Benavidez performing his best blanket impression for a moment. My spies in The Devil Dogs inform me that Benavidez has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! Carballo is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Benavidez pulls his head out easily. Benavidez seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Carballo does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Benavidez is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Carballo knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Benavidez on the ground. Benavidez is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Carballo can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Carballo is squirming around, avoiding Benavidez's attempts to control the action. Carballo is looking to improve his position but Benavidez isn't that keen on the idea. Benavidez moves to back control. Benavidez looking for the choke from the back. Carballo might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Benavidez working for a choke but Carballo is defending well. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Benavidez is cranking Carballo's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for Carballo! He's tightened the choke and Carballo is tapping out!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Roy Benavidez! A relieved looking Roy Benavidez thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
