Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Sergio Thompson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brett Jacobs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jacobs is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: I Want It All. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sergio Thompson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brett Jacobs! The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Steve Montenegro and Chad Campbell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jacobs tries for a takedown but Thompson circles away easily and Thompson counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Jacobs! Jacobs tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Thompson wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Jacobs is still trying to improve position. Jacobs sneaks back into half guard. Jacobs is looking to escape. Thompson takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Jacobs wants to improve his position but Thompson is controlling well.
Thompson wants to take a breather but Jacobs is having none of it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Thompson is controlling the pace.
Jacobs wants to control but Thompson is keeping busy.
That's one minute gone in the round. Thompson landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Thompson slips a nice elbow through Jacobs's hands, connecting with Jacobs's forehead. Jacobs is trying to control but can't.

Thompson postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Jacobs to stand up. A good leg kick by Jacobs. Thompson darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Well, if Thompson is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Thompson is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Thompson's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Jacobs is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Thompson's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Thompson's back! Thompson looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Thompson manages to reverse the position and now he's in Jacobs's guard. Nice work there by Thompson.

Thompson decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Thompson stuffs the takedown attempt from Jacobs. Jacobs gets slowly back to his feet. Jacobs fails with the takedown. Sergio Thompson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brett Jacobs. Jacobs looks winded! The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Jacobs is defended easily by Thompson. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Sergio Thompson dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Jacobs has his takedown stuffed and Thompson counters with a flying knee. Nice. Jacobs gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Jacobs pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Jacobs throws a head kick that misses and Thompson counters with a three punch combo that has Jacobs backing up. Jacobs nods at Thompson to acknowledge the strikes. Thompson dives in for a single leg takedown but Jacobs sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Thompson goes for a double leg but Jacobs avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Jacobs continues to drive forward. Jacobs throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Thompson is looking to counter the offense by Jacobs and move into the clinch. Sergio Thompson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jacobs closes this distance looking for a takedown but Thompson circles away. Horrible takedown attempt by Thompson or perhaps it was just good defense by Jacobs, which made it look bad. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sergio Thompson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Jacobs shoots and misses and Thompson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Thompson is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Jacobs can do to turn this around? Jacobs is breathing heavily.

Thompson has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Thompson preventing the sweep. Thompson postures up in Jacobs's guard and throws a big left but Jacobs blocks it. Thompson wants to control from the top but Jacobs keeps moving. Thompson connects with a couple of short punches.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Jacobs looking for a sweep. Not yet Jacobs, not yet. Thompson slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Thompson gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Thompson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Jacobs's waist but Jacobs gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Thompson off to one side. Thompson shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Jacobs counters with a head kick. That will keep Thompson thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks! Thompson avoids the head kick by Jacobs.
Thompson leaves Jacobs with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jacobs fails with a takedown attempt. Thompson shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Jacobs defends it nicely. Jacobs stuffs the takedown attempt from Thompson. Thompson gets slowly back to his feet. Jacobs with a lazy takedown attempt and Thompson counters by moving into the clinch. Thompson manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Thompson doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Jacobs must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Thompson striking off his back, scoring a few points. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Thompson uses the cage to get back to his feet.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Thompson fails to land the takedown. Brett Jacobs seems to be getting the better of the standup. Jacobs throws a lazy head kick and Thompson counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Thompson. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Sergio Thompson dominated that second round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
Thompson fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. The fight moves into the clinch position. Jacobs turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! Thompson sneaks out the side door and pushes Jacobs away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape. Jacobs throws a head kick but Thompson moves out of range.

Jacobs takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Jacobs keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Thompson's efforts to push away. Thompson fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Jacobs looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Thompson is standing up over Jacobs. Jacobs looks to escape but Thompson dives into side control.
Jacobs tries to strike but it doesn't land. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Thompson stands up and beckons Jacobs to his feet. Jacobs darts in and clinches Thompson up against the cage. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Thompson is pressed up against the cage. Jacobs has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Thompson down to the mat. Thompson avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Thompson shoots in and bounces Jacobs off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Sergio Thompson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Thompson is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Thompson gets to his feet - Jacobs follows without any prompting. Thompson tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Jacobs defends well and Thompson ends up having to push Jacobs into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Jacobs shapes to counter with a head kick. Thompson shoots in looking for a takedown but Jacobs manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Thompson's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Jacobs throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Jacobs has taken the fight to the clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Thompson shoots in but no luck this time. Thompson gets a double leg takedown into Jacobs's guard. Jacobs wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Thompson manages to pass to side control. Thompson takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Nice strikes from Thompson there. Thompson with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Sergio Thompson. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Thompson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
