Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Noah Jones (ranked 2197 p4p, 113 weight class) and BJ Penn (ranked 2165 p4p, 111 weight class). Jones comes to the cage accompanied by Barrels of Whiskey. The crowd seem to be enjoying Penn's choice of entrance music: Justin Bieber ft. Ariana Grande - Let Me Think Bout You. Noah Jones had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Noah Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, BJ Penn!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Marco Blurström and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Penn scores with a sloppy right hand. Jones should have avoided that one.


It looks like Noah Jones has been cut.
Jones shoots in looking for a takedown but Penn manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Jones's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

and Jones takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Jones manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Penn on his heels. He'll look to pass Penn's guard now, I'm sure.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jones seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Penn really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jones. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Jones accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Jones postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Jones is pushing down on Penn's leg trying to pass to half guard. Penn is fighting to maintain full guard but Jones has managed to sneak the leg through.

Jones winds up and cracks Penn with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Penn misses with a hook. Jones ducked under it nicely.
Penn is still on wobbly legs! Can Jones finish him?
Jones tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Penn defends well and Jones ends up having to push Penn into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Jones shoots in for a takedown but Penn shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Jones.
Penn has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Jones is landing a low percentage of strikes.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Noah Jones. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Nice takedown defense from Penn. No joy for Jones on that attempt.
Jones throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Penn's waist but Penn gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Jones off to one side.
Jones dives in and grabs Penn's left leg, looking for a takedown. Penn pushes down on Jones's head and hops out.

Penn throws out a counter right but Jones avoids it with no problem.

Penn fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Jones misses with a takedown attempt - Penn sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Penn throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Jones changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
A shot to the liver by Penn. Beautiful body shot.
Jones walks into a jab.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Penn throws a hook to the side of Jones's head but Jones sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Penn tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Jones was well out of range. Poor timing from Penn.
Jones looks for a takedown but Penn sprawls well.
Noah Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Penn misses with a hook.
Penn scores with a nice strike.
Penn works Jones's body with a nice hook.

Penn seems to have recovered his senses.

Penn lands a nice shot that snaps Jones's head back.
BJ Penn seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Penn drops Jones with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Jones looks back up at him and smiles so Penn waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Oh Jones is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Jones tries for a takedown but Penn circles away easily
and Penn counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Penn has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Penn closes the distance and lands a brutal uppercut that knocks Jones out! We're looking at the replay now - he was out before he hit the floor!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:19 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). BJ Penn!
A very excited looking BJ Penn rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
