Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jesse Taylor! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marshall Sanders! The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Eddie Farnsworth and David Schapiro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sanders with a body punch. A glancing blow. Sanders lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Sanders uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Taylor. Taylor is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Sanders. Sanders swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Taylor throws a sloppy head kick and Sanders moves out of range easily. Sanders lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Sanders ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Taylor scores with a jab. Sanders acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Sanders scores with the left hand. Taylor knows he should have avoided that one. Sanders digs a good body shot into Taylor's ribs. Taylor has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Marshall Sanders seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Taylor misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Sanders cracks Taylor with an open hand slap. Nice straight punches there by Sanders. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Sanders. Taylor showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Sanders.
Decent striking displayed by Taylor there. Sanders scores with a sloppy right hand. Taylor should have avoided that one.
That's one minute gone in the round. Taylor takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Sanders swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Taylor dives in for a single leg takedown but Sanders sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Taylor misses with the combination.

Sanders jabs at Taylor's body. Sanders lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Sanders tests Taylor's chin there with a solid looking shot. Taylor misses with a head kick.
Sanders throws a shot to the body.
Taylor looks to land a right hand but Sanders moved out of range. Sanders with a hook. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Sanders changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. A lazy left from Sanders finds it's target. Marshall Sanders is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Taylor takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Sanders throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Sanders looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Taylor throws a quick counter head kick but Sanders was just out of range. Sanders lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Taylor tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Taylor misses with a two punch combination.
Sanders is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Taylor had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté. Sanders scores with a nice strike. Sanders lands a really nice looking cross but Taylor seems unphased.

Nice jab there from Taylor. Sanders throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Taylor on the side of the head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sanders lands a slapping body shot.

Taylor misses with a looping right. Taylor cracks Sanders with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Sanders tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Taylor pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Sanders is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!
