Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jon Ubereem (ranked 1370 p4p, 199 weight class) and Ben Carpenter (ranked 841 p4p, 122 weight class). Jon Ubereem has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Sandra Marshall and Santiago Holmes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carpenter keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Carpenter throws the kick towards the body but Ubereem avoids it.
A jab from Ubereem misses.
Carpenter was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.
Ubereem lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
It looks like Ben Carpenter has been cut.

Ubereem tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Carpenter defends well and Ubereem ends up having to push Carpenter into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Carpenter! But no joy.
Ubereem dives in for a single leg takedown but Carpenter sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Carpenter scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Ubereem doesn't seem bothered though.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Carpenter is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Ubereem had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.

This entire fight has taken place on the feet so far and you wonder whether Ubereem might be better served trying to take this one to the ground because he's losing the standup battle so far.
